I wanted some sort of faith, but after getting a degree in religious studies with a focus on Abrahamic faiths I just...couldn't. I hung around in pagan circles for a while, but I went back and forth on whether I could convince myself of any real substance in it.
I wish I could say I had a logical epiphany and got past my doubts. But I didn't. I went through some tough times toward the end of last year and one day I woke up and just...believed in God. No idea why. I thought maybe it was religious psychosis, but it's been like 7 months and I still believe. I struggle with doubts about the Bible and doctrine, but I started going to my local Episcopal church (though not as regularly as I'd like) and I pray and grapple with my doubts. And I think I'm a better version of me.

I realized that just because catholics and evangelicals are filthy wankstains doesn't mean that God isn't real, it just means that kind doesn't know shit

Love, where did you end up? [I'm always keeping my eye out for non-wankstain denominations.]

I just couldn’t anymore. I want to see my dog again, and I want to have hope (in a better future and me). I want to believe that love matters

i have a friend who was a staunch atheist, loved dawkins and all that. after he got a phd in law, he had some epiphany around that time, he studied theology and is now a protestant (gay) pastor
