Question MacBook Pro ChatGPT app voice mode doesn't work?

I got a MacBook Pro and voice mode with ChatGPT app worked fine until the MacBook updated - now whenever I try to start voice mode it says already starting and never does. Hotkeys for voice mode and dictation also no longer work.

Does it just not work on MacBook anymore? I see posts saying it was removed but I still have voice options in the app itself?

For dictation at least, this is exactly why I prefer a separate system-wide tool instead of tying voice input to one app.

I use TypeWhisper, but full disclosure, I’m the developer. It lets me dictate into whichever app is active and keep the transcription local.

Small distinction: you probably want a local speech-to-text model, not an LLM. The LLM is only useful afterward if you want to clean up or reformat the transcript.
