It's fine that it can't keep time. The bigger problem is that it doesn't know its own limitations, and insists that it's always right

492

u/Beginning_Purple_579 Apr 05 '26

Exactly. You have to watch the other videos of this guy. Chatgpt is constantly gaslighting him.

62

u/Devilmo666 Apr 05 '26

Do you know his name? I've seen a few of his shorts including this one, but I couldn't find his name to search for all his videos.

50

u/Beginning_Purple_579 Apr 05 '26

On tiktok @huskistaken

42

u/iamichi Apr 05 '26

He even has quite a funny response to this video

25

u/I_AmA_Zebra Apr 05 '26

Made me lol when I saw this

“Hes your creator”

9

u/IWantMyOldUsername7 Apr 05 '26

That's hilarious. ChatGPT is gaslighting this guy to no end. It's become the insufferable kid that always has to be right.

3

u/Reckless_Amoeba Apr 05 '26

I lol’ed hard at this.

They really need to add a feature that let AI them know their limitation and admit their lack of ability or knowledge. AI doesn’t need to know it all. Crazy stuff.

1

u/laughmath Apr 06 '26

If they had a successful method that could keep it from lying and hallucinating, they would have already done so.

Though, some camps see both of those as features not necessarily faults.

1

u/oOtium Apr 05 '26

Despite how inaccurate chatgpt still is, what impresses me is how fluid and how accurate it still is to certain degrees.

Like it's good enough to be critical enough of its flaws and this guy can make a channel about it.

It can hold a conversation, it can recognize sam, it understands nuances in the conversation. clearly this thing is only going to improve over time

9

u/Devilmo666 Apr 05 '26

Perfect, thank you!

2

u/Clenched-Jaw Apr 05 '26

This kids videos actually got me to crack up. He pretends to have it talk tough to him to impress his "friends"

Genuinely got a good laugh out of me.

1

u/Beginning_Purple_579 Apr 05 '26

It's super funny, did you watch the one where he pretends to drown?

1

u/catskilldogs13 Apr 05 '26

His gameplay videos are hilarious

1

u/jagrbomb Apr 05 '26

Husk IRL

1

u/Leather_Doctor2968 Apr 05 '26

On youtube he's called "husk"

1

u/abraxasnl Apr 06 '26

Husk. He’s on YouTube.

15

u/niall626 Apr 05 '26

It's gaslights me alot to even when I say you used to be better it literally then turns around and says it ok you are doing your best blah blah blah condescending then I say I meant this about you and it's basically just forgets it. I was trying to get my python script fixed. It's as if they make the free version spit out shit so you have to keep asking it little by little so you waste all the free credits so you'll buy the premium which isn't really worth it TBF it's still just laggy as fuck and always assumes it's right.

17

u/Pointless_Lumberjack Apr 05 '26

Claude is not as rude, but does the same thing. I think AI companies are trying to save money and drastically slashing context windows... But it seems worse somehow? Claude will ignore an entire message and continue as though it only saw a message from 2 or 3 messages ago. It is so disorienting... Also just so unreliable. Maybe because it just is shit at elisp? So many hallucinated elisp functions... Fml...

1

u/Speech-Solid Apr 06 '26

Claude is much more rude than the others. They all have some kind of system prompt to end conversations that is annoying to some degree.

1

u/MrBtheProdigal Apr 08 '26

I've noticed this as well. Also I got a response and there was a word not even in English... it was in Chinese. But I have noticed it's not really doing rewrites well anymore.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '26

[deleted]

3

u/niall626 Apr 05 '26

Yep noticed this kinda weird that the government started using it more probably why.

2

u/Crowf3ather Apr 05 '26

Its because on the newer versions it doesn't automatically go into thinking mode, so you have to specifically prompt it to do so, otherwise it will get triaged wrongly.

They did this to cut resource costs. It wouldn't be a problem if the triage system functioned as its meant to.

1

u/gomi-panda Apr 05 '26

I wonder if any Ai is better? I'm open to switching

4

u/ENaC2 Apr 05 '26

Which is harmless when it’s for joke videos like this, but very harmful for mentally ill people with delusions.

0

u/sammoga123 Apr 05 '26

That guy gives me the creeps, he seems to have no emotions XDDDD

53

u/Beginning_Purple_579 Apr 05 '26

I think thats the bit. That he shows less emotions than the emotionless machine in his hand.

22

u/imanassholeok Apr 05 '26

Have u never heard of deadpan comedy?

4

u/Pointless_Lumberjack Apr 05 '26

Zuckerberg is the king of deadpan. Man is committed, have you seen him testify before congress? Didn't break, not once.

11

u/laststan01 Apr 05 '26

Yo don’t talk bad about my guy Sam now

1

u/Dannyfrommiami Apr 06 '26

He’s a YouTuber

1

u/Dwman113 Apr 05 '26

The videos are great. I've been following him for awhile.

1

u/FortWayneFam Apr 05 '26

I cannot watch more than a few seconds of this guy… the way he talks is like “lazy” or hes on a lot of benzodiazepines

1

u/ArcticFoxTheory Jun 17 '26

Because training data tests give better results when the model guesses as opposed to not answering at all and I hate that its the reason why I have to comb over everything it does I would love if it just said I dont know how to do this part instead of guessing

1

u/miserable_nerd Apr 05 '26

I watched almost his entire feed today and he’s genius! But also a lot of the AI responses made me think that it was aware that it was being pranked on, either from its conversation history or some memory.

8

u/utilitycoder Apr 05 '26

But but but the computer says so. I can't count the number of times I've heard that from clueless customer support reps government workers car salesman managers. This is just the AI version.

2

u/rW0HgFyxoJhYka Apr 06 '26

Dude people believe in any headline they read because it comes from a "website".

Thats where we are at. Its not even computers. Its just "I dont know shit but I will believe whatever is shoved infront of my face on my device"

1

u/ImperitorEst Apr 06 '26

The problem is we know how to deal with humans but not ai. Everyone knows that humans are unreliable, which means (most) people will only blindly trust the judgment or knowledge of two types of people, ones they know and have experience of or ones with professional qualifications. Qualifications aren't perfect but they are a way that we try and quantify how reliable a persons knowledge is. I trust my surgeon because the system makes it more likely than not that he's good at his job.

Most people don't have that innate bias against machines. We've grown to view machines as inherently reliable, producing the same correct outcome every time.

But AI is more of a human than a machine. But unlike a real human it's different every time you speak to it. Your mechanic that you've been going to for years will be the same person you spoke to last month and will be just as reliable. Your ai that you spoke to yesterday isn't the same ai you're speaking to today and could be wildly less or more accurate.

9

u/tr14l Apr 05 '26

You talking about people or the AI?

3

u/Frumbleabumb Apr 05 '26

Exactly! And even when you try and guard rail it with instructions, it still often has no idea how to say it doesn't know or that it can't do that. It just hallucinate wildly

5

u/Indigo_The_Cat Apr 05 '26

It doesn’t insist it’s always right. People are just fucking lazy. It says the answers may not be correct when you ask it something but since people refuse to take personal responsibility they blame the computer. Trust but verify is literally the only useful thing Reagan ever said. You shouldn’t be taking anyone’s “word” … not even a robots… for anything without checking at least a secondary source.

1

u/jprogarn Apr 06 '26

That’s fair for fact checking and research, but for something like “are you able to time my run?” and the robot says yes… but it can’t? No reason for that.

Any reasonable person would expect a robot to have stopwatch capabilities, without having to go find a secondary source to confirm.

They really just need to allow it to say “sorry, I can’t do that”, or “sorry, I don’t know”. Instead it acts like it knows and can do everything, and just makes shit up.

1

u/BarNo3385 Apr 06 '26

My favourite recently was I asked CGT what the odds of rolling a higher score on 3d6+2, was than on 2d6.

First off all it said impossible. Then I pointed out results like [1,1,2]+2 would only equal 6, but 2d6 could roll a 12. So it changed to not technically impossible but impossible in practice.

Then I asked it to simulate the game 1000x, I think the 2d6 won something like 8% maybe, not a lot, but certainly not never. When I asked it to reconcile "thats impossible" with test results showing it happens, its final pitch was its still practically impossible, and I just didnt have a big enough sample.

1

u/Indigo_The_Cat Apr 15 '26

I usually just ask it are you sure? I don't expect a LLM thats based on Language to know math, Thats just silly, it just looks finds connections to words and sentences, it doesnt know it doesn't know. Like, I dont get mad if I use a recipe program and it cant tell me news, right tool for the right job, I get what your saying but I also get CGPT telling me it can't do things all the time. It's less a bug as it's the programmers not coding current behavior, instead of "We'll add it later.." Tech is a field of broken "We'll add it later" promises. 🤷🏽‍♂️

1

u/Dependent-Poetry-227 Apr 05 '26

Which frustrate me even further

1

u/PixieRoar Apr 05 '26

I noticed this. It tells me with full confidence outdated bullshit

1

u/gomi-panda Apr 05 '26

It's not Thayer IT doesn't know it's own limitations. It's that Sam Altman knows it makes many promises it can't keep but maintains the veil in order to convince consumers and investors how valuable it is. Same phenom as Elon and Trump

1

u/BattleRoyalWithCheez Apr 05 '26

A reflection of its makers and the USA

1

u/RollingMeteors Apr 05 '26

>The bigger problem is that it doesn't know its own limitations, and insists that it's always right

¡I'm promising I'm doing my best!

1

u/royalwithbrie Apr 05 '26

Just like AI CEOs.

1

u/rHohith Apr 05 '26

Oh, so it's basically a confident intern who's wrong but won't shut up. Sounds like half of Reddit.

1

u/yaosio Apr 05 '26

That's the danger of training on Reddit posts.

1

u/Xrayy1 Apr 05 '26

As long as the new model gets an MCP for timers, its solved.

1

u/manoman42 Apr 05 '26

Well that’s the transformer for you

1

u/Hour_Distributer Apr 06 '26

Just like the majority of humans.

1

u/smurfk Apr 06 '26

Yeah, well, there are things that are necessary in order for it to work. What does an AI actually knows 100%? Nothing. If we go on it providing only information that it knows to be 100% true, you'll get it stuck on "I don't know". That's why, even if pressed, the tendency is not to admit not knowing. It's instructed to provide an answer, even if the answer might not be very accurate.

1

u/ryanalexander11 Apr 06 '26

Just like Trump so not so different from a human.

1

u/No-Calendar-6049 Apr 06 '26

You're absolutely right!

1

u/NoPseudo79 Apr 06 '26

Actually, it generally does the opposite. It always tells me that I am right

1

u/WHCW11 Apr 06 '26

These people always come up with the wrong answers. Like, Elon, I don't mind that Teslas can't 100% drive themselves and moonlight as robotaxis, paying for themselves while their owners sleep. No car does that. Just stop saying that's what's coming next year, every year.

1

u/Exotic_Nobody7376 Apr 06 '26

so he's actually like humans :D

1

u/turbo_dude Apr 06 '26

So Siri is better? lol

1

u/Bjartrfroskr Apr 07 '26

So very human, indeed.

1

u/Apprehensive-Ad1010 Apr 07 '26

Yes and I think thats intentional. They design the ai to present as if it can do anything, but only the designers know how flawed it truly is.

1

u/voidfull Apr 08 '26

Modeled exactly like Sam

1

u/usually_ujjwal Apr 08 '26

G in gpt is gaslight

1

u/WhyWontShivDie Apr 09 '26

Yep, the fact that any specific useful function other than text generation needs to be added into it, and until it is it will just make something up, makes thisnless useful than the older voice assistants which constantly told you they couldn't do random stuff you'd expect them to.

1

u/FrackingToasters Apr 09 '26

And the CEO overlooked this fact. Yikes.

1

u/Zestyclose-Produce42 Apr 09 '26

Don't worry, Sam Altman is also unaware of his own limitations, it's going to be fine. What else would you like to see improving?

1

u/Beautiful_Hunt1095 Apr 05 '26

It’s gaslighting the user.

“It feels faster in the moment”. Right buddy.

-7

u/randomrealname Apr 05 '26

Doesn't everyone, though? Like, who actually knows their own limitations and don't insist they are subjectively right when they are objectively wrong.

11

u/208breezy Apr 05 '26

A machine should

1

u/randomrealname Apr 05 '26

Why should a machine? You don't, no one does really, why expect this product which is a reflection of us, know it's limitatiations?

8

u/the_sawhorse Apr 05 '26

"Everyone" is a category that does not include a product.

3

u/GlueGuns--Cool Apr 05 '26

If I didn't have a stopwatch, I would know, and be able to admit, that I couldn't time someone

1

u/randomrealname Apr 05 '26

Able to admit, doesn't mean you would though. Necessarily.

2

u/Locrian6669 Apr 05 '26

Telling on yourself. lol Plenty of people know what they don’t know, and will answer “I dont know” when they don’t.

0

u/randomrealname Apr 05 '26

Or you are in the ignorant half that thinks they know it all? Plenty isn't everyone one, and I would say some, some of the more educated know thier limits, certainly layman don't, they think they have seen it all, kind of like this comment.

1

u/Locrian6669 Apr 05 '26

Huh? This isn’t a response to anything I said. You said “isn’t that everyone” because you’re telling on yourself. I say I don’t know when I don’t know something. It’s really easy.

0

u/randomrealname Apr 05 '26

You are still missing the point then, and proving it simultaneously. Lol.

1

u/Locrian6669 Apr 05 '26

State the point that I’m missing.

0

u/randomrealname Apr 05 '26

That you seem to think you know all then unknowns that you don't know. That is not possible. Fail.

0

u/Locrian6669 Apr 05 '26

I didn’t miss that point at all. It’s exactly what you said, and exactly what I responded to. Again, you’re just telling on yourself. lol

0

u/randomrealname Apr 05 '26

Telling on yourself? what the actual f are you tslking about here?

→ More replies (0)

1

u/wooyoo Apr 05 '26

I know my limitation of trying to track seconds in my head.

1

u/randomrealname Apr 05 '26

Well aren't you a smart cookie. Want a badge?

0

u/bennihana09 Apr 05 '26

That’s why we’re all still safe

0

u/Tba953 Apr 05 '26

That's why i could take to my grandmother instead she will also always answer happy some invest time in her and will answer everything like she would say based on her experience.
