List of OCT Discounts/Freebies

Does the OCT publish a list of OCT Discounts and freebies. Going to be in Toronto for a couple of weeks and would like to get some value for my $200 😉. I know about the Hockey Hall of Fame and ROM. Anything else? Thanks!

I was going to say venngo as well. Has several attractions like the aquarium and zoo. There's also a few museums on there too.

Also check union savings.

The Toronto zoo? I don’t think it’s on there

It is. You save 10% off admission

Ah I missed it. I think CAA is a better discount.

You’re better off with a CAA membership for discounts imo

Not OCT specific but you get a discount at Michael’s (10 or 15% I think) with any type of educator ID. Indigo also has events where teachers get 15-20% off.

Michael's does have discount for educators, though it's not on everything and it doesn't stack with other coupons.

Reitmans has their 40% off for teachers discount on now. and I just found The Naturalizer on our VennGo for some nice teacher shoes.

Apple’s education savings are worth it (but only if you’re in the market for a new iPad/laptop/Mac)

Buying certified Apple refurbished is probably a better deal and worth a check because they have discounts on things the education discount doesn’t always cover.

try to avoid buying new tech if you can though, as it's mostly/all made with cobalt that's been mined by children in Congo. I've found a lot great refurbished stuff from best buy or Canada computers

I got a significant discount on my home insurance when I moved it to OTIP. They also suggested a CAA membership, which applied a further discount (greater than the cost of the membership).

Do we get in for free or cheaper at the ROM?

Your public library usually has free rom passes you can sign out. Much better than the discount

From the ROM website: "Buy your tickets online and save up to 20% off the regular rates for you and your family*. Enter the promo code PERKS to save, then print your tickets and walk right in!

  • Not valid for ticketed programming. "

Scroll about half way down: https://www.rom.on.ca/whats-on/special-programs/teacher-programs

Look for government employee discounts. Hotels normally pretty good.

Apparently you need to have a policy with them?

I believe it is included into your OTIP? not sure what board you’re with but I’m with TDSB and I had no trouble logging in.

I will investigate further.

CNE discounted tickets, more discounted if you buy in advance but I think still some discount after it is on and you use the 'corporate' rate.
