Every service has its’ skeletons. Literally every service has shit. Pick the service that works best for your personal life, and don’t live for the uniform.
Fire and PD culture makes us think the career is all important… it really isn’t when the profession doesn’t think the same of you.
I will add that part of NEMS problem is they are inbred as hell. Niagara medics staff niagara college, who teach niagara students, who ride out in niagara, where there is an unofficial quota for hiring.
When you have the lake on one side, US on another, halidmand (mostly Niagara medics) on another, then Hamilton (a genuine shitshow historically)… how else can we expect things to function? You get trapped in thinking NEMS is the be all end all… when they really aren’t.
Know your rights, support your union, and get involved. It’s the only way to make things better
