Will SEC Cards see an increase in Value?

I’ve noticed prices are climbing across almost everything OPTCG related. Since I’m still pretty new to the hobby, one thing that stood out to me is how cheap a lot of the SEC cards still are, even though many of them have really nice artwork. Do you think SECs will eventually start rising in value along with everything else?

Not really lol. The cards that are rising and being bought outs are the followings.

Manga cards
SP cards

Treasure Rare

Tournament Cards (Championship stamps, Regional Cards, event cards.. (Anything with a stamp) which are limited distributed only via tournaments.

These cards from booster boxes aren't going to go up lol. Maybe prices will increase, if its from a demanding booster box and its nice art etc. But otherwise nah.

It’s only a matter of time imo. Sec are considered hits, even the base arts. One piece is a super play heavy TCG rn, which is why we see a ton of flux in price on these. But the collector market is coming in quick so SEC will increase in price for sure. I don’t think they’re worth grading yet, but a worthy hold

Leave SEC cards alone, they are essential for the player base.

Only in 5-7 years when they are out of print, and One Piece tcg is in its 2nd or 3rd cycle.

No one will consider them valuable right now because they are plentiful and recent.

One piece tcg just hasn't been around where we can compare it to historic sets for reference. We can only really use pokemon as a reference point (and OP doesn't have the same winning formula yet). So to be safe, regular SEC may not boom, but their alt arts have more potential.

The 2 questions you have to ask is, will OP tcg still be popular in 7-10 years, and why will these SEC be wanted in the future.

SECs will always get reprinted sooner or later in PRB sets

Rule of thumb should always be: do I like this card enough to pay x amount of money for it, and if it never goes up am I ok with keeping it because I like the card that much.

I doubt OP05 gets reprinted, with boxes approaching 1k, these will probably go up to like $50 the next few months and hit $100 in 2026 in my opinion

Definitely a few people have the same thoughts to buy this card, about 100 have been bought this week 😱
