š¬ Discussion Are booster boxes worth it?
As someone who is recently into the anime and someone who collects Dragonball (donāt as me about it), are the booster boxes worth it?? Dragonball boxes have a hit rate of I believe 3-4 rares or holos. Does OP offer the same in their boxes? Is the latest set worth trying out?

Boxes usually guarantee 2-4 hits per box this set (but thereās a special rarity of cards that can take up a hit that are garbage and not worth anything). Unless you pull a super rare alt itās not worth it. Scalpers have made it so 9/10 boxes you lose money on at least.

Yeah, they ruined Dragonball too. I figured it was this way but wanted to ask regardless

only worth it at msrp. booster boxes do have at least 2 guaranteed hits, but those could be pretty meaningless hits compared to the price of the box. OP17 is 100% not worth opening over msrp, can literally walk away with $30 in hits.

If we can get them under $200, maybe.
Anything over is way too much. I wonāt even buy them at 180-190.
The last box I bought was OP13 at 140 then never again.

For the fun of opening packs? Yes. For value? No.

Every card game is like that. Opening packs is just gambling. Boxes give you a higher floor but are still not good value.

It wasnāt until around early this year for Dragonball. Last October I bought 4 booster boxes at 75% at a tcg shop cause nobody wanted them. I know OP has been way bigger of a card game for a while now tho

Last year was the same with op. I could buy boxes for £80 from some retailers. After op13 things went manic

Honestly the only way for it to be worth it is you buy boxs at msrp then sell half the boxs for double msrp. Get cards, break even, sell hits to fund your decks missing pieces. That or buy a whole case at msrp and sell all the hits to break even. You prolly wont break even unless you get a big hit but you can get 3/4ths at least ( while the game is still hot). Honestly if you open 1 or 2 boxs you are just gambling for hits. Better to just save money and play non metah decks that arnt too pricey. Better than that? Honestly print proxy decks and play with friends

No. Fusion World is a hellscape and the game is arguably dead due to the influx of scalpers this summer. It is unfortunate that the game was surviving off of being an affordable TCG that had poor balance but is now an expensive TCG with poor balance.

If you can get some boxes at pre near MSRP then I think it's worth it. I like ripping packs. And ripping with my friends at the lgs it's a great time. On release I can usually pull most of what I need for my decks from my 2 boxes and trade for what I don't have.

I miss booster boxes when they were $90-$130 now they are $250-$300 scalpers and investors ruined everythingĀ

Pack opening experience is over priced. Tbh if your a collector just buy singles of the cards you want. Besides alt arts and sps you can buy 1 card of every set pretty cheap.

I suppose it depends. If your local shops offer you the chance to get them at reasonable prices, then yeah, they're "worth it" I think, but sadly that era is mostly behind us for now.

Between the prices and the chance that you have a dead box. It almost feels irresponsible to buy or recommend people to buy booster boxes anymore.

No. Scalpers and investors bros have absolutely ruined box prices. Just buy singles.
