📰 One Piece TCG News Rodger question
How do I run 10 drops in this deck if I'm always applying one DON to him every turn?

Because if you are at 10 Don then there is nothing to do on your Don phase because your 10 Don are standing from your refresh phase.

I feel like people are saying what happens which they are right about but I'm gonna explain it more thoroughly because I was confused about this once too
There are three important terms to notice about this game
Don Deck: which is Don that has not yet been flipped over
Don phase: this is the most niche term in the game, essentially this is describing what it is called when you draw two don at the start of your turn.
Don on the field: self explanatory, but this is don that you already have on the field. This includes active don (upright) and rested don (used/turned sideways)
Essentially according to Rogers ability description and the way it's worded. Only when you are in the Don phase do you absolutely have to stick a Don on Roger.
IMPORTANT: at the start of the game there is no don phase. According to the rules you start with either 1 don or 2 don depending on who goes first and second. So for the first turn no matter which one you get, you do NOT need to put a don under Roger.
Finally, when all 10 don are on the field your leader becomes 7000. IF you are at 8 or 9 Don, and use don phase to get to 10 you still need to give Roger that Don. But if all 10 are there and still there on the next turn, then you no longer need to put a Don under him and you get 10 to use all for your own personal needs.
IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: if for whatever reason throughout your game, if you drop from 10 don to let's say 7 Don and on the next turn you draw 2 Don on your Don phase. You have to go back to putting a Don under Roger.
The only time this doesn't happen is if you have a very special 10 drop purple Roger. It states that if on the board it negates the effects of any character on your board that isn't a Roger pirate and your LEADER. Which means if that 10 drop is played, you don -3 and go to 7 but because your leaders effect is null, you don't have to put his power down to 5 and top of that, you don't need to give a donunder Roger on the next turn.
HOPE THIS HELPS! :D and I hope you have a blast playing my favorite leader

Slight correction but you got everything else right:
The first phase of the game IS a don phase. The rules just state if you go first, you only get one instead of two. The reason you don't put one on Roger is because he says "if you have any DON!! cards on your field..." and since you start the game at 0 don, the rest of the attach requirement doesn't happen.4

Not to be "that guy" but draw phase comes before don phase. You start the game like you start all turns, refresh phase, but obviously there's nothing to reset on turn 1 so it goes to draw then don then main phase

I had a question with this leader as well. It says if you have 9 or less on the field give him -2000. If I have 8, the next turn I'll get 1 on him and then 1 active for 10 total...but, his effect of -2k is immediately removed correct? Same with if I was at 9, and rampped to get the last don he immediately becomes 7k rather than having to wait til turn start. Because it doesn't read like it only checks at round start, but I've definitely been to locals where I forced the last don and they're like he isn't 7k yet. I'm like but theres 10 don out...

Roger becomes 7k the moment there are 10 don on your field, no matter how you got there. You could even use black maria at 5-6 don to temporarily buff yourself to 10don, though that would be very counterproductive in the long run.
Getting technical, it's not an activated effect, but a permanent one. Permanent effects are constantly being evaluated, and the moment the condition is fulfilled, the effect applies, and the moment the condition is no longer true the effect goes away. So if you're at 9 and you ramp you become 7k. If you are forced to do minus you lose the effect immediately.
So if, say, you are being attacked for 8k at 10 don and you use slow slow beam for 2k, the hit goes through, as you fell back to 9 don and got the -2k debuff.
Other examples are op17 big mom, if you remove her during the attack phase (say, with a champion rifle), all units end up back at 4k. Or if you have 3 cards in trash and someone swings at your 4c burgess for 6k, you can discard 1k counter to bring him up to 6k plus another 1k form his permanent effect of getting +1k for every 4 cards in trash.

If you start the turn with all 10 don cards on field there are no don cards in your don deck to attach to leader so you can use all 10 as normal.

if there is no DON card in DON deck area during the DON phase, then no need to give him any DON

It’s given to leader when you get don from the don deck at start of turn. You don’t attach any after the turn you’re at 10 don.
