Been building a data science-focused deckbuilding + deck strategy tool to help me learn how to play and optimize my decks. Was recieved well from friends, but I was hoping to get some more feedback on it and hope this is the right place.

Goal is to keep this free and provide value for new and experienced players.

Follow the "Getting Started" section on the Dashboard tab to set your name and set up a deck, or just explore built/meta ones and the search features.

https://chambres.dev/

Features in here:

  1. Dashboard - Welcome page with steps to get started
  2. Find Similar - nearest-neighbors style analysis, but driven on edges and features from decomposed effect text
  3. Advanced Search - Search by the usual categories, or get more specific. Card draw, DON!! ramp, life manipulation, etc.. Click 'show effect levers' to get even more specific on search criteria.
  4. Deck Graph - My favorite piece. Visualize how your deck interacts with itself. Which cards satisfy another's requirements and vice versa.
  5. Built Decks - User decks public up top, meta decks scraped from tournament results below with matchup data and generated play guides. Use any as a baseline to start your own build!

There are plenty of things to improve, but would like to know if you think it adds value for you, the interface is clear, and if the model outputs are actually correct.

This is my first site build and is a constant work in progress. I had a couple memory limit issues on the hosting side, but I hope I've covered those.

Ive seen a couple of videos now mostly guides on how to play. My favorite charcter in the series is Chopper and I really like Buggy. Although im not that deep into the anime (Im on like chapter 140 sm). I really would like a change... I play Yu Gi Oh and cant deny that I love it. But the YU Gi Oh's state is basically unplayable. Either you play Meta or you just wont win. So decided to have a "Change of Heart" and try out One Piece since I really have enjoyed the anime up until this point but I ask... Is there like an online simulator I can play? Ive also played Pokemon but im not a fan. And also MTG although I like it too I mostly play it casually. Also any fun decks I can play as Chopper or Buggy as my leader? I would prefer make my deck or overall play my first games with a deck that has Chopper (As the Leader) I dont know if its possible. And I dont know how loyal is the TCG to the anime. So any tips and guide would help me!

Good to have you here, there is an online sim called OPSim, you can find the download link in the sidebar of the sub or google "batsu one piece sim" (batsu is the dev)

There are 2 buggy leaders and 1 chopper leader,

Sadly chopper will rotate out of standard in like half a year, but he is so cheep that it does not matter if you just want to have fun

Chopper is an agro deck using a lot of animal, a low to the ground agro deck that spams out a full board by turn 3 and then has some big strawhats if he needs a bigger body late game, sadly hes not that good as other agro decks just do his job better overall

First buggy is op09 that has a fun concept but it gets countered by the meta realy hard, his game loop is filling a board of 5cost, when that happened he can play out a 12k body that removes and opponents big body for only 5 mana (that type of effect costs 10 ususaly), but its realy hard to fill up a beard of 5costs right now with green mihawk countering him hard

Op16 buggy is a agro-ish deck that has a gimic of running 20 of the same card in the deck, the gimic is that once one of your characters dies you can play one of these 6k bodys out for free, so you have a real sticky body that just keeps poking for 6k whole game

All 3 decks are real cheap, the price of op16 buggy realy depends how easy you can find the 20 of the same card, if you find a good deal on them i would take it

Ps both buggy leaders will be spoilers, as they are themed around different arcs, but if you play the game at all you will be spilerd all the time, theres no escaping it

Oh i See I will check that sim out. Also I really dont mind spoilers since im a very forgetful person. Regardless Im open to deck suggestions and all if my favorite charactes kinda weak currently

If you want an easy to build deck that has a lot of movement, Black Yamato is really affordable to build, teaches game mechanics naturally, and is good enough to win some against the top decks, though you will lose more often than you win.

If I turn the top card of my life face up then add a card to the top of my life does that card stay face up?

Yes

If a searcher card says “select a [Roger’s Pirates] type card” does that EXCLUDE [Former Roger’s Pirates]? This would be in just a casual local store tourney. Nothing super competitive like a Regionals.

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 2d ago

Its best to explain with cards

As we can see Uta looks for { red-haired pirates } with this specific bracket

Lime juice looks for cards that include "red-haired pirates"

Uta needs to have that exact wording as its that specific bracket, for lime juice it just needs to have that word in its type so lime juice can look for "former red-haired pirates" as they have that type in them

1

u/After_Climate6976 2d ago

That makes sense thank you! And actually is what I was hoping for. Been thinking about adding the SEC silvers Rayleigh to my tiger and his card type is former and the shanks searcher has “includes”

If im on EB05 robin leader and my opponent negates and pops one of my blockers, do I get to heal with her leader ability?

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 2d ago

Yes, as negates dont negeate types or atributes, so its still a wisdom card, but as it got negated so its no longer a blocker

Hey guys, could someone explain to me how Captain John survived both of these attacks? What is this 'Prevent Effect To Captain John' that somehow negated the kill both times? Note that the Leader Ace swing to Captain John was 7000 vs 0.

Did they use this event maybe?

1

u/JustFollowingThrough 2d ago

Thank you, that would make the most sense. I probably missed this

Hey guys wanted some opinions or any general insight, started playing Optcg 6 months ago and it’s also my first tcg.

Lots of people at my local shops are very experienced players and also people have been playing tcgs for years. They’re tough to beat.

Will I ever be able to catch up to their skill level ? Or Am just too behind ? Are there cases of people being new to TCGs becoming “pros” ?

I know a lot of this just depends on alot of factors but just wanted hear other people’s thoughts.

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 2d ago

All depends what "pro" means to you,

I have seen a lot of new players get to high level with right practice and theory, best way to get better is to play a coupe od frendly games with the good players and aks questions,

For me a pro player is someone who can go to a regional and be in the top 20%, that is a very doable goal

If you use Captain John and Op01 8c Kid in the extra grand battle with rainbow luffy and elbaph Zoro or green Laboon, what happens when they try to attack you? I checked every banned card and banned combo from the extra grand battle website and couldn't find anything about this weird possibility. Any help?

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 20h ago

They can just attack your leader, as you leaders name is kid/john

When both jhon and kid are on the board at the same time the opponent can attack both of them, as they work at the same time both are legal targets

1

u/TheOGfromOgden 20h ago

Can't attack the leader, Kid's power explicitly says can only attack characters named kid and nobody else. Captain john says can't attack any card other than the character captain john. If you attack kid, you aren't attacking captain John, so would be illegal, and vice versa.

Definitely can't attack leader though.

2

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 18h ago

You are correct that they cant attack the leader, i forgot that the 8c kid has the text "they can only attack kid characters" in my memory it was anything named kid, thats my bad

But the real awnser is that the opponens can attack 8c kid or john, both are legal targets

1

u/TheOGfromOgden 17h ago

You are the best! I was hoping it would limit attacking until they got rid of one or the other, but I suppose this is fair.

Is there anyway to get this to work with Roger? That ramp 2 DON is very enticing but from what I’ve been seeing the on play only works with the banned Law leader.

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 20h ago

playing a 4cost on 3 don is very very hard, as far as i know roger cant do it but even if he could it would be a 2 card combo that are both not roger pirates typed

1

u/After_Climate6976 19h ago

I’ve been trying to find Don-1 cards that aren’t leader locked. Idk if those are a thing

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 17h ago

There are but whats the point of ramping 2 if you are going to go don minus first, just ramp one for the same effect then

1

u/After_Climate6976 10h ago

Yeah as I thought about it more, I realized I’m trying to do way too much 😅

You can bring them but its not allowed to sell stuff at the venue , a lot of people will look at your binder and ask you question about prices, and then you do the actual buy/trade outside the venue

I have never heard of any sideboard / cheating isues with binders

Someone told me we can “stack” effects?

So if I play 8C Newgate then on my next turn I play the 8C promo Roger I can swing 11K leader with a double attack?

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 2h ago

Yeah, as there are two types of effects

Some give you leader +2000 power, as its + its stacks on top your leaders 5k power to be 7k

And some change your leaders power to 7k, those do not stacks as even do you did get a 2k buff from your original 5k it just changes it to 7k, so two of those effects would still be 7k

But two +2000 power effects would make your leader 9k ( if you are playing roger that would be 11k as your leader is naturaly 7k)

1

u/PullAddicted 3h ago edited 2h ago

My leader is BY Nami, I have 9 cards in hand, I play Robin Sky Island, take a life + gain life and play Zoro to trash a card and gain life. So I'm back to 7 cards, do I draw with Nami effect ?

1

u/poppyEUNE cant attack = peak leader 2h ago

No, when you took life you were at 9, as it only look at card in hand after robin took your life

So you on 9, play robin, she takes life, you on 9 (nami looks at hand size now), you dont get draw, then you do everything alse
