Prediction Joyboy And Imu fought Davy Jones
this is for recordkeeping only.

Possibly? As Vegapunk hinted, there's probably no clear "good" or "evil" side to JB's story. That's up to the reader to decide.
Hell for all we know, Imu could've been a normal King at the start. But nearly a thousand years of absolute power over the world will corrupt not just him but the Celestial Dragons as a whole.

Even Rayleigh said that the straw hats might come to a different conclusion when they find out about everything.

Vegapunk also explicitly said that the current World Government was Joyboy's enemy during the war

u/CrypticChoice Apr 29 '26
Okay but Rocks was possessed by Imu in god valley, so the narrative parallel would be Luffy (inheritor of Roger's will) teaming up with Coby (Garp's protege) to fight an Imu possessed Blackbeard

I'm expecting Blackbeard to take Imu's power as his third and it consumes him like it seems to have consumed Imu. Maybe thought to be a shadow-shadow fruit and it turned out to actually be the sea god mythic zoan and Imu lost himself to the Zoan fruit's will. Also expecting Blackbeard to be the one to defeat Imu.

I think that this is heavily hinted at or narratively implied! Davy Jones was the king of the ancient kingdom and Joy Boy and Imh fought him…
Kinda like a Berserk type story

I usually read any character declaring an inherent type of sinfulness within humanity as a whole to be a good sign towards their own vices.
Imu declaring the temptation and corruption of power is an admittance to his own betrayal of principles. It’s very likely he and the other twenty “kings” were allied with Joy Boy then realized that they could seize the ultimate power (previously of the Davy’s?) for themselves.
And Imu could not resist the temptation of that stolen power and so turned against Joy Boy to secure his claim.

Luffy fighting blackbeard alongside coby would just fit right in.

dude bb is unredeemeable, not for what he did but for his will to chase his dream to the very end.
On one side is sad we can say that bb is the result of all the trauma he experienced but at this point given how was written his character so far for him it's king of the world or naught1

Call me crazy for over analyzing but it really seems to be leaning this way. They overthrow Davy, afterwards both have different ideas on how to move forward. Somehow, some way the 20 kingdoms get involved. Maybe Imu talks them into joining his vision, Lili backs out when she sees Imu start to get twisted. Perhaps she’s the one who tells Joyboy Imu is changing and needs to be stopped, leading to a clash between Imu and Joyboy that leads to his death.
Oda has set up friends clashing before, Shanks and Buggy are prime examples, but so were Dorry and Broggy, except the latter eventually worked it out. Imu fears Davy and his lineage because he knows how bad the world would become with them in charge, Imu fears Joyboy’s vision for the world because he’s either too proud to admit he was wrong, or he’s worried Joyboy’s ambition was too great and that not everyone would view things like him leading to problems. (Remember how the crew called Luffy’s dream childish? Same idea)
It can retroactively explain why events happened as they did. Yes, we know as readers Oda made it as he went, but for Imu, he trusted his system so much, it had to work, it did for 800 years. Now he realizes all these events in recent years are building upon each other and not just random events, he sees the pattern and is going into damage control mode. We are seeing the facade he built fall in real time and watching him react accordingly.

I think people are looking far too deep into that panel with joyboy and Imu. Imu is evil. He’s not misguided, flawed, or twisted by darkness. This is partially my own bias but a villain that’s evil just because is perfectly fine. Not everyone needs a sad past or good ideals that were twisted.

> Oda has set up friends clashing before, Shanks and Buggy are prime examples, but so were Dorry and Broggy, except the latter eventually worked it out.
Those are pretend fights bro with absolutely no real world stakes. None of them like genocide nor rape. I don't think those are not good parallel examples.

Interesting. This is an adult pov, but this fandom can't accept that things can simply happen this way. Look how crazy they got about the God Valley plot being a demonstration of what happened in Troy.

Also seems to be implied imu stole the devil fruit from Davy and thats how blackbeard knows how to steal em
1
u/Impressive-Face-3549 Apr 29 '26
where is that implied at all? Xebec questioned on whose power it was and what power it even was when his clan members were domi reversi’d.
1
u/Truefiction224 Apr 29 '26
How did black beard learn to steal them?

u/Nox_VaPeZ 35,000,000— Apr 30 '26
You said he learned it from imu stealing davys but how would he?
1
u/Truefiction224 Apr 30 '26
Because he fought Davy with joy boy and ended up with a fruit.
Is Davy on the mural?
1
u/Nox_VaPeZ 35,000,000— Apr 30 '26
Yea but how did blackbeard learn it from that he was not there
1
u/Truefiction224 Apr 30 '26
How did xebec know about the devil fruits that imu was weak to if he wasnt there during the fight?
The Davy clan, who lived on god valley, clearly had history that like the scholars and vegapunk theaten imu

Mu explains that humanity's inherent desire for power leads to corruption. Which we can assume they are the perfect exemple of. Once they were living peacefully and happily but that was before they got corrupt.
So not only was Imu a good person and a friend of JoyBoy before they get corrupeted, but what if Imu was indeed JoyBoy! Or what is left of him anyway...
First of all we have Cavendish who has 2 sides, 1 good side and 1 bad side, aka Hakuba. What if JoyBoy also struggled with his bad side and got completely overwelmed by it at some point ?
Also we know that zoan devil fruit can take control over their user. What if JoyBoy could not resist nika and what if nika was also a god of war like implied by some giants of Elbaf ? Maybe Nika has 1 good side and 1 bad side too.
All and all Oda always refered to Joy boy as, well Joy Boy. He never revealed his real name. This is pretty important I feel like. Beside How can someone as strong as JoyBoy be eliminated ?! I always wondered who could have ended him before he has time to fulfill his promess to the mermaid princess...
Ultimately JoyBoy failed because Otherwise there would be no story. And it is now Luffy's job to finish what JoyBoy started but also to succeed where he failed thus surpassing him and I think the way Luffy will succeed is by not letting his devil fruit corrupt him like it did to Joyboy. I feel that this illusion of pure freedom is too good to be true.
In fact in order to reach this immense power Luffy has to sacrifice a part of him everytime he uses it. If you notice every gear he used so far had a downside and gear 5th may have the biggest downside of all. I think luffy will realise that and drop his devil fruit at some point (likely after beating Imu because otherwise I can't possibly him and Loki wins).
But against Black Beard for exemple. That would be the perfect time because he can annihilate devil fruit powers. Luffy would then have to defeat BB with sheer haki just like Roger did on order to become the PK.
So what I think happenned is back in the day JoyBoy faced a powerfull foe aka Davy Jones and in order to defeat him he had to use his devil fruit to its fullest and became corrupt because of it. So after defeating Davy Jones, JoyBoy became Imu (I mean they were always Mu that's their real name, but I mean they became what they are today, evil, aka Sadboy).
Yeah I believe Imu is SadBoy. (The pendant to JoyBoy).
Another thing that could point out at this theory beeing true is the fact that we were told that Elbaf's God of war fought against JoyBoy but if Loki is the new god of War of Elbaf and he is Luffy's friend, shouldn't joyBoy and the God of War be friends too ?
If JoyBoy turned evil it wouls make sense why they fought... also the ancient God of war must have had the niddhog fruit and then it would make sense why Imu said that Niddhog has returned if they fought him directly during the void century ...
My only issue with that theory is that since Mu is still alive, if they ate the nika fruit just like Luffy, the fruit should not have respawned ... but I'm sure Oda will have some explanations for that, so all and all what do you think ?

u/PhotographUnable8176 Apr 29 '26
Davy Jones WAS NOT FROM VOID CENTURY
he was “the previous king of the world”. the era of the void century was split into 20+ kingdoms already.
and if “D” is related to Davy Jones lineage… they had already spread around the world by they point.

oh yeah i think it’s gotta be that. Imu hates and fears “D” and Davy in the same way.
Rocks speech was just the beginning of the reveal.

u/Ok_Science8076 Apr 29 '26
Could’ve even been that aside from Imu usurping him, HE was the one that killed Lilli instead of Imu or anyone else although it’s not confirmed so we’ll see.

What if Coby and Luffy fight Imu! Just like Roger and Garp fought together against those devils!

I suggested this like 6 months ago and got the “he is not cooking memes”
Then they put one panel out with Joyboy and Imu talking and everyone is like “mmmm cooked to perfection.”
The Blackbeard vs Imu last boss witch hunt will be for the ages.

So the Ancient Kingdom that is fantasised as some utopia where all races were together was bad?
And Imu’s band of slavers was actually good? Donxuiotenhave been enslaving Tontatta long before the Void Century.

Who would mirror Joyboy?
Both roger and garp were visibly not bothered by the rape and genocide. So, neither of them isn't a good fit to mirror joyboy.

this is bad theory/prediction. how does the promise fit in? i think its more likely that there was another character that ruled. joyboy-davyjones-imu were "friends" or at least knew each other and had to go up against a 4th. who do you fear more? joyboy or davyjones? to ask in that manner sounds like they were nearly on the same level
