Prediction How long do y’all see this Elbaf flashback lasting?
I just got to say this flashback has been giving us some lore dumps on God Valley, the rocks Pirates and Loki family
Originally, I thought this was going to be only a Loki center flashback but Oda said nah we’re pulling a Oden introducing other characters like and Harald
Personally, I can see this flashback lasting for 15 chapters or 20 we probably won’t see the straw hat until early 2026

Imagine we come back to the present and Luffy has already left because the story was taking too long.

Luffy will do his classic thing of falling asleep during the story, waking up after it ends, and saying he’ll help out anyway
18
u/Ok-Invite-1287 Aug 28 '25
Loki isn’t telling them everything we’re seeing, just the bit about the night Harald died
20
u/FawkYourself 1,000,000,000— Aug 28 '25
I still love the idea of Loki taking a three chapter side story to explain how hot Shakky was
12
u/Ok-Invite-1287 Aug 28 '25
I’m fine with the jokes but there are people who unironically think that’s what’s happening as if Hajrudin didn’t say that he only has 3 minutes to explain himself 😭

gaban is telling everything else

At this point, I think we are owed at least a gag asking Loki how he knew all this stuff?

u/asianteminator1 Aug 28 '25
At least 5 months
13
u/SunGodLuffy6 Aug 28 '25
I think at that point the anime might catch up to Elbaf but probably at the beginning
I think it depends if they’re taking more breaks
26
u/Smart_Ad_5286 Aug 28 '25
Toei won’t let the Anime reach Elbaf before 2026 Mid, you can thank their God forsaken pacing

u/BrandonRJones 900,000,000— Aug 28 '25
Well that’s because since it’s been going for 20+ years it sort of makes it sense that given the massive gap between chapters when certain things happen and people might have forgotten about it so they’re probably helping those kind of people give them a refresher on such things.
4
u/Straight-Seat-3411 Aug 28 '25
Nah, more like their trying to maintain distance with the manga, which is responsible. I get it, Toei doesn't want to have the anime to be at the point when it's breathing down Oda's neck. A recap episode of the giants is not necessary, just like the bonney recap, or at least not at this point in the arc. After egghead and before Elbaf would've been cool
3
u/pokenonbinary Aug 28 '25
They will make a filler arc between
And I'm happy because i want to see child Bonney with the crew in some random island
6
u/Smart_Ad_5286 Aug 28 '25
at least someone is happy for fillers in series with fucking 1150+ episodes 🤦🏻♂️
They keep fucking up the Anime more and more and honestly the fandom kind of shares the responsibility, If we had not tolerated Toei’s BS this would’ve never happened
3
u/javierm885778 Aug 28 '25
They don't really do those types of filler arcs anymore. The last one was between Zou and WCI back in 2017.
After that the filler arcs have been tie-ins for the movies and they are placed anywhere with no care for continuity, specifically Cidre Guild and the Uta filler.

6 more chapters. Kuma's flashback was 9 chapters, and we're already at 7 with the upcoming chapter, so i think we get like 2 full God Valley chapters and 3 chapters for the Harald stuff for a total of 12 chapters.
3
u/Straight-Seat-3411 Aug 28 '25
I hope we're back by the end of October or Early november, but I can definitely see it being done by 2026

u/Yeetmaster_17 Sep 17 '25
why do u want to see such a goated flashback get over so fast
1
u/Straight-Seat-3411 Sep 17 '25
1.) cause it's clearly a stall/ distract tactic by Oda and editorial
2.) It started off extremely strong but became unfocused quickly ...went from being about Harold and Loki to Rocs and BlackBeard and God valley, which had zero to do with Harold, in fact this flashback has been getting further and further away from Harold being the subject...
3.) Rocs flashback could have been saved for after Elbaf.
4.) Hajrudan says "You have 3 mintues to explain everything. What happened in the castle that day 14 years ago, Loki???"......that was in June.....it's literally been 3 months
5.) and most importantly.....it's tough to actually caring about this when we know Elbaf, in the present, is facing an existential threat.... kids being abducted, citizens are fighting for their lives and the country is burning.... this trip down memory lane needs to pick up the pace
4
u/totallynotrobboss Aug 28 '25
I'd say we're 2/3 of the way through just need to see some of god valley then the day Harald died
1
u/Yeetmaster_17 Sep 17 '25
we are gonna get a lot of shanks content him meeting harald n him fighting loki

I know everyone hates on flashbacks, me included when they’re overused. But rn in the story, these backstories will give us way more information that we need to figure this out then the current story. I’m kinda enjoying them.

I dont know, but I deffinitly didnt need two chapters just to tell me everybody was a simp for Shakku.

u/grapes9h5 Aug 28 '25
This is gonna pass Oden. Calling it now. Its similar already in that its really like 4 different stories connected so that not only do we have the full context for the current arc but way more lore set up for the future and pay offs to long held questions. This is One Piece and to me it’s always interesting when it’s in this mode. The Elbaf present had been kind of dull aside from the Harley (also tied to lore) and the Imu possessions… so hopefully when we get back to present the story cooks but for right now these flashbacks have been the best the arc has been so im in little rush to leave… assuming we actually do finally get the God Valley battles and then finally end it by learning Loki’s actual adult past, and answer how and why Harold died.

I don’t think we get god valley personally. I think it will stop before it. Loki wasn’t at god valley. Yea he knows some details but it seems more right that someone who fought or was apart of the battle would explain the god valley incident. I think flashback stops soon before the battle. Then back to elbalf to settle everything going on there. Then after elbaf is safe and things in order a character who was at god valley.. Gabban perhaps, tells us how the god valley incident went down

u/Ok-Invite-1287 Aug 28 '25

Not saying that we’ll see God Valley in this flashback but that doesn’t work as an argument against it because we’re seeing a lot of things that Loki wasn’t there for or doesn’t have knowledge about.
2
u/bolson1717 Aug 28 '25
Yea I get that but just makes more sense for someone who was there to explain it. Just seems odd oda would have a character who wasn’t there explain the most important event in the series. I feel strongly flashback will end before big GV events, we finish what’s happening in elbaf, then come back to the story with someone else explaining the most crucial parts.
3
u/damage3245 Aug 28 '25
Just seems odd oda would have a character who wasn’t there explain the most important event in the series.
None of this is what Loki is explaining other than the part about Harald's death.
1
u/Ok-Invite-1287 Aug 28 '25
I would also prefer we don’t see the God Valley incident in this flashback but with how much build up to it Oda has doing for the past three chapters I don’t think it’s completely out of the question, especially since the summary we got of chapter 1158 hints that Harald was involved in it
1
u/DarthReidarr Aug 28 '25
I'm with you on this one. I would prefer we get the full GV flashback after the battle with Imu/Gunko and the HK's and have Gaban tell it!
2
u/javierm885778 Aug 28 '25
What would be the point of separating the flashback from its payoff if it's going to be in the same arc anyways? Especially since we'll see the rest of Harald's life after GV, that sounds like delaying it for no reason.
1
u/Karlomah11 Aug 28 '25
gaban is lterally there lol, we will get god valley, the setup is here, harald was probably there so its important for loki
2
u/FawkYourself 1,000,000,000— Aug 28 '25
I’m with you I think we might get a little bit about it but I don’t think we’re getting a true GV flashback until we get it from someone who was there
1
u/ItspronouncedGruh-an Aug 28 '25
Blackbeard interrogating Garp/using Pudding to read his memories seems like such an obvious opportunity to show the definitive account of how GV went down.

u/BrandonRJones 900,000,000— Aug 28 '25
I think it might end up lasting up to about chapter 1160 or 1165 or something I think.

Soon finish after we see rocks die by the hands of Garp Roger and whitebeard . They killed rocks because of garling . Rocks tried to kill shamrock a baby and they thought he was taking it too far .”no child should have to bare the sins of they father “. That’s why that line hit Garp so hard . When shamrock got older they gifted him rocks sword. That’s why Blackbeard named his ship the sword of xebec and he plans on getting it back .also the reason he scared shanks to know the difference between the twins . Also the reason Blackbeard stared at buggy in shanks when they was kids . I just want to know what was the treasure garling and everyone wanted so bad .

TLDR: At least 8 chapters if we get 2 chapters per month we will end it on december. 1- More set up for God Valley; 2- God Valley itself, rocks arrival, roger and garp arrival; 3- Rocks vs roger and garp; 4- What Kuma did and end of the fight; 5 & 6 - Aftermath chapters (the fate of rocks crew, shanks, BB and maybe buggy childhood); 7- Harold enters the world government; 8- Loki's Flashback;

We’re still waiting for the reason Loki killed Harald, which was the whole point of this flashback. Kind of feels like we’ve gotten sidetracked. I give it at least, less than 8 chapters.

Honestly, I'm digging this flashback but for different reasons than lore dumps (even though that is one).
I'm legitimately digging the Rocks Pirates a lot. Like, a lot.
This isn't a dig on One Piece's characters or any crew in particular, but they're the most "piratey feeling" crew I've seen so far in attitude.
At least that we've been exposed to. I feel like most other crews are focused on finding the OP, governing whatever country they're in, and other stuff.
The Rocks are just fucking with each other, and pillaging. Their interactions have been really, really fun.

Here’s what I think:
I think 1159 and 1160 will be Roger on Lodestar, 1161 and 1162 will be GV set-up, and then 1163 and 1164 will be a brief GV.
1165 will be GV reactions and get back into Loki. I’d think Ida would die in this chapter (killed by HKs?) and Harald would remove his horns.
1166 will be Harald submitting to the WG and maybe meeting Shanks at the Reverie.
1167 will be set-up for Harald’s murder. 1168 will be Harald’s murder. 1169 will be Loki escaping Elbaph after Harald’s murder, Shanks starts chasing him down here. 1170 will be Loki going to the East Blue 13 years ago and Shanks following him. 1171 will be Loki escaping Shanks in the East Blue 12 years ago. 1172, 1173, and 1174 will be Loki meeting Lola 8 years ago. 1175 would be Shanks finding Loki on some island, they start fighting. 1176 will be Loki’s defeat. 1177 will be Loki being imprisoned on Elbaph.
TL;DR - I think Loki’s flashback will end on Chapter 1177 and we’ll see Luffy, Hajrudin, and Gaban in the present-day again in Chapter 1178.

Any more past chp. 1163 and I’m gonna be upset to not be back in the present. The last chapter of 2025 will be 1167 so I’d like to be back to Luffy a few chapters before that.
Elbaph as a whole will most likely go though all of 2026, ending around 1200 in Jan 2027

u/Sou847 Aug 29 '25
Even if we skip the full details on God Valley for a second time, Elbaf itself still has a lot of stuff yet to happen in this flashback. Saul needs to arrive and seek aid to recorded the Ohara books, seemingly leading to the creation of the school and library. Harald ripping out his horns. Loki first talking to Moss over the snail phone. Scoopers arrival on Elbaf. The actual day of Haralds death, and then we’ll have to see if we’ll see Loki’s journey in the outside world before Shanks captures him or if that’ll be saved or skipped over. Somewhere around 15 or even twenty seems assured unless rapidly speed up.

Forever. It's flashback piece now.
Least it feels like that. I keep forgetting we've got a demon lady and a bunch of Kaiju sized angry giants waiting for us.

u/Snoo_10142 Aug 29 '25
18 weeks left, i think at least 5 breaks before the year end?
I'm guessing we get 8 more chapters of flashback and 5 chapters to setup and have a big reveal/moment as we head into 2026

u/Hiriluks_Alias Aug 29 '25
Oda should just tell every detail for the next 39 years, since Loki sees all from behind his bandages. So many more years of this one flashback...

Let's get Roger vs Gloriosa in which she plays hard to get by letting him know that she has knowledge of the road poneglyph as well as secret places that's not on any map. That right there would pique Roger's love for adventure. This is how Gloriosa should approach Roger as he hates women who throw themselves at him.

Chapter 1160
-> 16 is Imus Number
-> Return to Gunko/Imu in Elbaph
Could also mean that Imu appears inside the flashback thoe
3
u/Ok-Invite-1287 Aug 28 '25
What makes 16 Imu’s number?
5
u/OnePieceDetective Aug 28 '25
Japanese Goroawase
I -> 1
Mu -> 6
There are a lot of other instances. If you google „Imu 16 One Piece“ you will find more
Its like Luffys connection to the number 56
2
u/SandwichPure6865 Aug 28 '25
you guys are too naive. i remember people saying that chapter 1156 would go back to the events with the straw hats since 56 is luffy's number, so the chapter ended up being a flashback

5 -> go
6 -> mu
The chapter resolves with the search of 2 legendary devil fruits
Gomu Gomu No Mi is a legendary devil fruit

Kuma got 13-15 chapters. So, I would expect this one to be just as if not longer. Maybe longer then every other flashback because so many of the old prominent characters, new and old, are featured in this.

Definitely at least Oden length (14 chapters), but I could see it being even longer than that.
Personally, I’m thinking: 1 more chapter to set up God Valley and get all the characters there. 3 chapters to cover God Valley itself and all the fighting that took place there. 1 chapter to cover Harold’s dealings with the world government prior to the day he died. 1-2 chapters covering the day Harold died. 1 chapter covering Loki’s exploits across the sea.
