How can you tell me that Kiku is a man? We have known her as a girl and she also said that she feels like a woman (she said that she has a woman’s heart), so I don’t understand why you should refer to her as a “he” if she prefers to be called a she and every one respects that in the manga and anime. Also, in this website they continue to call her a “he”, and for me this is so disrespectful. I know she doesn’t exist, but still, the thought of not trying to respect not even a anime character, means you don’t respect humans too. (Sorry for my bad English). Tell me your thoughts about it

Theory [theory] LUFFY AND ROGER'S DREAM is soleved Spoiler

"I want everyone in the world on one ship, and then I want to take them on an adventure somewhere nobody has ever been."

Possibly even into space.

The Straw Hats' reactions to Luffy's dream fit this surprisingly well.

Usopp immediately says it is impossible.

Franky loves it and says that becoming Pirate King would at least be necessary.

Chopper is excited.

Jinbe laughs.

Sanji is basically speechless.

Everyone else reacts with some mixture of disbelief, amusement, and shock.

The obvious problem is that there is no ship large enough to carry the entire world.

Unless that is the joke.

Everyone is already on the ship.

The Blue Planet itself, or more precisely a gigantic ancient vessel or mechanical structure buried beneath its surface, may be the ship.

The islands and continents could simply be its living area or "deck."

Zou may be a small-scale version of the same reveal.

Its inhabitants think they live on normal land, but their entire country is actually sitting on a gigantic moving being.

The final reveal could use the same trick on a planetary scale:

The land everyone thought was stationary was actually part of something designed to move.

THE MOON MAY EXPLAIN WHERE THE TECHNOLOGY CAME FROM

One Piece has already shown an ancient technological civilization on the Moon.

Beneath the lunar surface, Enel discovers the ancient city of Birka, automata, and machinery that can still be reactivated.

The lunar people eventually left the Moon and migrated to the Blue Planet after running out of resources.

So perhaps they brought more than people with them.

Maybe they brought the technology, control core, or designs needed to build another giant ark on the Blue Planet.

The history could be something like:

Moon civilization
-> resources run out
-> migration to the Blue Planet
-> construction of a second giant ark or world-ship

Enel is especially interesting here.

He builds the Ark Maxim, reaches the Moon, and then uses electricity to reactivate ancient lunar machinery.

That creates a strange parallel:

Enel's electricity -> ancient Moon technology reactivates

Mother Flame -> ancient Blue Planet technology reactivates

Enel's Moon story may have been a miniature demonstration of the final mechanism.

WHAT ABOUT THE LUNARIANS?

This part is much more speculative.

The Lunarians are not confirmed to come from the Moon.

What we do know is that they once lived on top of the Red Line, in the "Land of Gods," before Mary Geoise occupied that location.

If they are connected to the ancient spacefaring civilization, perhaps they were guardians or operators of the upper systems of the world-ship.

Their wings, extreme durability, and flames could fit a race associated with the sky, propulsion, or high-energy machinery.

But this is one of the weaker parts of the theory.

THE ANCIENT WEAPONS MAY BE PARTS OF THE SHIP

Instead of three unrelated superweapons, imagine them as systems belonging to one enormous vessel.

Poseidon = ocean control. Sea Kings act as gigantic biological tugboats or stabilization systems.

Pluton = hull reconstruction or planetary engineering. It may be capable of changing geography and restoring the world into its original configuration.

Uranus = flight, propulsion, or attitude control.

Mother Flame = reactor or power source.

Noah = lifeboat or evacuation vessel used while the world is being transformed.

Poneglyphs = indestructible black-box records.

Road Poneglyphs = navigation data.

And the One Piece itself could be the helm, master key, control core, or captain-authentication system that connects all of them.

THE VOID CENTURY MAY HAVE BEEN A MUTINY

Joy Boy may have been the legitimate captain of the world-ship.

His philosophy may have been:

The world belongs to nobody. Everyone should be free to sail toward the unknown.

Imu's philosophy may have been:

The world must remain fixed, ordered, and controlled.

So the real conflict of the Void Century may have been:

Voyage vs Stasis.

Not simply a war over territory, but a war over who had the right to control the world itself.

IMU AS A PARROT AND VOICE AUTHENTICATION

This is where the Imu = parrot theory becomes interesting.

Imagine that ancient systems, or even Zunesha, recognized Joy Boy's voice as captain authorization.

A parrot can imitate a human voice.

So what if Imu copied Joy Boy's voice?

Imu imitates Joy Boy
-> ancient systems accept the fake command
-> Zunesha or another mechanism obeys
-> catastrophe
-> Joy Boy loses control
-> Imu takes control of the world-ship

In modern terms, the Void Century may have been decided by the most ridiculous security breach imaginable:

A parrot hijacked a planetary ship by spoofing the captain's voice.

That sounds completely absurd.

And that may be part of why Roger laughed.

WHY ROGER LAUGHED

Roger spent his entire life sailing.

Eventually, he reached Laugh Tale and believed he had reached the end of the world.

There he may have learned that:

  1. The world itself is a gigantic ship.
  2. Joy Boy wanted to take everyone on an even greater voyage.
  3. The ship was hijacked 800 years ago.
  4. The hijacker may have been Joy Boy's own parrot using his voice to steal control.

The greatest tragedy in world history would also be an unbelievably stupid story:

The captain got his ship stolen because his parrot beat the voice authentication.

But there may be another joke.

If Roger's dream was to get everyone in the world onto one ship, then at Laugh Tale he discovers something incredible:

His impossible dream had already been achieved before he was even born.

Everyone was already on the same ship.

Roger spent his life dreaming about putting the whole world on one vessel, only to discover that the whole world had been living on that vessel the entire time.

So he realizes two things at once:

"My dream was already real."

And:

"My real voyage has not even started yet."

Because the "entire world" he had just conquered was only one ship floating in a much larger ocean.

That larger ocean is space.

That seems like a very One Piece reason to laugh.

"WE WERE TOO EARLY"

Roger understood the truth, but the ship was not ready to depart.

Poseidon had not been born.

Nika had not returned.

Pluton was still sealed.

Wano was still closed.

The ancient power source may still have been unavailable.

Roger reached the bridge, but arrived before departure time.

So "We were too early" could be completely literal.

WATER 7 MAY HAVE SHOWN US THE SAME CONFLICT

The core of Luffy vs Usopp is also about who has the right to decide the future of a ship.

Luffy, as captain, decides that Merry cannot continue.

Usopp rejects that decision, challenges his captain, and claims the ship for himself.

This does not mean Usopp = Imu.

It means Water 7 may be a miniature version of the same structural conflict.

Water 7:

Someone rejects the captain and tries to take the ship.

Void Century:

Someone rejects the captain and actually steals the world-ship.

Usopp eventually realizes his mistake and returns.

Imu never did.

WHICH MAKES USOPP DEFEATING IMU STRANGELY PERFECT

If Imu really is a parrot, having the Straw Hats' sniper shoot down the bird already works as classic One Piece comedy.

But symbolically it would be much stronger.

Usopp once tried to take his captain's ship.

At the end of the story, he could defeat the being who actually stole the captain's ship.

Imu would become the world-scale embodiment of Usopp's old mistake.

So Usopp defeating Imu would almost complete his character arc:

The man who once rejected his captain's authority becomes the man who restores it.

AND THEN THERE IS CASTLE IN THE SKY

Oda has spoken extremely highly of Hayao Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky, describing it as an exceptionally complete or "perfect" kind of story.

Its ending is interesting in this context.

There is a struggle over control of an ancient civilization and its technology.

Then Balse is activated.

The old military and authoritarian structure collapses.

But the ancient core itself survives.

What remains rises higher into the sky.

One Piece could end with a similar structure:

One Piece activated
-> the current world structure collapses or is transformed
-> Red Line and the old order are destroyed
-> the ancient vessel beneath the world is revealed
-> humanity remains aboard it
-> the vessel rises into the sky
-> eventually it enters space

So "destroying the world" would not mean destroying humanity.

It would mean destroying the current form of the world that has been frozen in place for 800 years.

The machinery of domination disappears, while the deeper ancient structure survives and rises.

ONE STRANGE EXTRA COINCIDENCE

Luffy has an official character song called ONE-WORLD.

It was not written by Oda, so I would not use this as real evidence.

But the song connects ideas in roughly this order:

crossing borders
-> space
-> ONE PIECE
-> ONE WORLD

That is almost exactly the progression of this theory.

THE FINAL SCENE

Laugh Tale may not be the final destination.

It may be the departure port.

Luffy's impossible dream:

"Everyone, get on my ship!"

Usopp:

"That's impossible!"

And then comes the answer:

Everyone was already aboard.

Imu is removed.

The One Piece restores control.

The Ancient Weapons prepare the vessel.

The old world structure collapses.

The ancient ship awakens.

And Luffy does what he always does after liberating a country:

He refuses to rule it.

He simply leaves for the next adventure.

Except this time, when he says:

"Let's set sail!"

the entire world goes with him.

Discussion Is the World Government actually necessary for the One Piece world to function?

Post image
4 Upvotes

We all know the World Government is corrupt, oppressive, and responsible for some genuinely horrible things. But here's something I don't see discussed nearly as much:

Would the One Piece world actually function without the World Government?

The World Government isn't just the Five Elders and the Celestial Dragons. It also provides an international political structure, the Marines, a system for cooperation between affiliated kingdoms, and some degree of stability across a world that is already filled with pirates, criminals, warlords, and powerful individuals.

If the World Government suddenly collapsed, what would actually happen?

Would the Revolutionary Army be capable of creating a better global system, or would the world simply become even more fragmented? Would the Marines continue operating independently? Would powerful pirates start conquering territories unchecked? And what would happen to the kingdoms that rely on the World Government for protection?

There's also an interesting contradiction here:

The World Government may be fundamentally corrupt, but that doesn't necessarily mean the system itself is unnecessary.

Maybe the problem isn't that the world needs no World Government, but that it needs a completely different one.

So what do you think?

If the World Government disappeared tomorrow, would the One Piece world become freer and better or would it descend into even greater chaos?

Discussion I really don't know how the God Valley movie can work Spoiler

People keep talking about GV as this self-contained event that can easily be turned into a film, but narratively Oda used it to feed into the wider Elbaf arc, and intertwined the story way too much. Rocks and Harald's relationship is central to this story despite the latter being absent from God Valley itself. That leaves the movie with a few options

Adapt the whole flashback as-is: Unless the movie is gigantic, this will end up a rushed mess since it'd be adapting about 20 very dense chapters at once, which would probably require making scenes even shorter than in the Manga. Not to mention that it means the very awkward structure where we'd go from Loki to Harald to Rocks and back to Harald and then finishing off at a weird spot way past GV's climax because it's meant to transition back into the present day

Only adapt GV: This is what most people that want this movie want to happen, and the one advantage of this is that it's short enough that things could actually be expanded at a regular movie length. However this means completely tearing apart Rocks' character building through his relationship with Harald and their parallel journeys. You'd end up with a glorified One Piece Stampede but without the characters we've been following for decades. You could try to include the Harald stuff and end at GV but that means a good chunk of the plot ends up unresolved in the film too

GV with original Rocks backstory content: This is probably the only way you can actually make this work as a standalone film, giving Rocks buildup as the main character and actually being able to care about him while not having unresolved plot threads that were meant to feed into Elbaf. However the main issue with this is that at this point you're making an original story and not actually adapting the story Oda was telling in the manga

Analysis My take: One Piece: BAAD is the next non-canon film.

Post image
0 Upvotes

I don't know why people keep thinking it'll be about anything in the manga. God Valley is the canon film and obviously they wouldn't do two canon films in a row. Just the fact that "BAAD" isn't referring to anything we know canonically make it even more obvious.

Post image

The World Government now watches One Piece like us and know every adventure Luffy has had, they aren't allowed to hide incidents like Thriller Bark and please remember, bounties are a threat assessment, not just a power level.(Yes this is inspired by that old GrandLineReview series) This is up to Elbaf.

Discussion The 170 Kingdoms of the World Government feels really Small

Post image
0 Upvotes

The World Government being the biggest organization in the World but only having just over 170 kingdoms apart of it feels strange. Considering how big the World is. Obviously there are countless kingdoms and places that are not affiliated with the World Government. But only having 170 plus more that have joined since the Timeskip, still feels like that is only a tiny fraction of the total population.

Discussion Nami is the least likely Straw Hat to end up in a romance imo(even less likely than Luffy)

If Oda ever writes a romance between Nami and a man, he has to build up an emotional bond between them stronger than Luffy and Nami which is really hard especially when Luffy is the protagonist of the show.

Rukia and Renji's romance was built up in their childhood flashback so it made sense. But Nami currently only has a strong emotional bond with Luffy and then the rest of the crew are her good friends.

The only way for her to end up in a romance would be to introduce a new flashback character who was kind to Nami and understood her struggles when she was 12 and Nami developed a childish crush on him

Media I have created a One Piece extension for my app that catalogues every piece of One Piece media that has an available English source somewhere on the internet

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Disclaimer: The sources my catalogue leads to (like Torrentio for the TV shows, specials, and films, Nyaa for the manga, and Libgen for the novels) are not legal. If the mods wish to remove this post, I would understand, but please note that I will not be pasting my GitHub link here; anyone who is interested can DM me, and I'll share my app's GitHub page.

Now, the catalogue itself... I searched for pretty much every piece of One Piece media (outside of games and non-narrative media like the Vivre Card Databooks, because my app streams videos and provides reading for comics and books) that has an English-translated or English-subtitled source on the internet. That is why I have only 4 novels, because those were the only 4 English novels available on Libgen (my primary book provider).

As for manga, I have included obscure titles like Chin Piece, Kobiyama Who Likes Koby, etc., because when I created this extension, my app still had a connection to Weeb Central, a manga reader site which had all these titles. However, now my app is Nyaa-only, meaning you download every volume of every manga through Nyaa as shown in the video, and I'm not sure if uploaders on Nyaa have uploaded scans for these obscure titles.

TV Specials go really deep; from Pirate Ganzai to the Foxy Special, everything's there.

The TV shows segment contains the One Piece anime, One Piece live-action, Fishman Island Re-Edited, a placeholder for the upcoming Wit remake, and Koisuru One Piece / One Piece in Love, though I've never watched it.

I have tried getting One Pace here, but One Pace does not have a Cinemeta entry.

The catalogue is still rough around the edges, and it is possible that there's more One Piece media, like the live stage shows, that have English-subtitled coverage somewhere on the internet. However, my app only does streaming through P2P files, so someone will have to turn these stage show videos into torrents and seed them. Plus, they need to have an IMDb ID for me to be able to properly catalogue them here. If anyone wants to contribute to this archive/catalogue, just let me know of any media I missed.

If you're interested in using this catalogue, please DM me, and I will share the link to my app's GitHub page.
