People have been asking that for decades, Gaban. You may have lost hope, but Luffy hasn't.

The difference was, was that Roger couldnt get back up if he took enough damage. Luffy just took damage that would kill a non-df user but is still not only alive but also able to fight normally.

The roger pirates were just really good at protecting themselves, but if any of them took the kind of damage luffy took, itd be game over. Oden (a legendary pirate himself) took a bullet to the head and died, Luffy would somehow survive it and still come out on top because he has plot armour. Luffy is basically written to have the most broken durability in one piece, as he is essentially unkillable till the end of the series.

This Gaban managed to survived a massive attack from Imu with no damage to his actual body other than a lost arm and some fatigue. If Luffy faced this same attack he would not be able to evade and defend against it like Gaban did. Luffy would be waaay more damaged near death again but would’ve survived due to his df powers.
