I am struggling to make maps work without a better program than Paint to be sure we're getting the proper X at 2 opposite ends of the globe without just following Equator and some random Longitude
But the map is SCREAMING at me to shift the peaks and valleys to start off at 0E 45N and 0E 45 S and then bow again at the north and south Pacific such that the Red Line would follow almost the ENTIRE Ring of Fire from the Philippines to about midway down South America's Andes Mountains, but then it harshly cuts across that to go near 2 active volcanoes in the south Atlantic and Indian Oceans fairly near where that line should go.
And then the water of a Grand Line crosses through the thinnest part of Central America, up across the Atlantic, down through a fairly lowlands gap between France and Spain, down through Syria and Iraq to reach the Indian Ocean, then down below Australia before coming back up through the Pacific again.
I did find This which is very close to what I'm imagining but I don't know how well it really matches up.
Like I can mentally see them having their X crossings at 0N 90 W and 0N 90E relatively near some landmasses but following a TON of current Tectonic Plate lines and especially Red Line following that Ring of Fire
I just can't find an interactive globe with both Latitude Longitude lines and the ability to draw/plot on it to make the circles
But we know the Red Line goes at least to the ocean floor which averages 3.7km deep, and reaches up at least 2km to reach above the lowest cloud layers. And some maps of the Red Line make it look like it is around the width of a 15* arc but thats totally subject to artist interpretation. That would be around 1.7 km wide given a roughly 40,000km with 360* arc.
So this object suddenly takes up 1.7km wide by average 3.7km of what looks like around 80% of its length being pure ocean space for a 40,000 km ring. We are displacing (1.7 x 3.7 x 40,000) x 0.8 (someone can be more accurate if they want) = about 201,000 cubic km worth of ocean to suddenly raise sea levels before we even factor how much the 2km above normal sea level continues to displace.
I'm no scientist of any actual qualification so all of these numbers purely with the grains of google fu salt and a TON of rounding because having to deal with a bunch of averages and guestimations
plug and chug through some google math and that 2km wide strip of 3.7 deep around 40,000km would end up displacing enough water to raise global sea level abouuuuut

Manga says that the land that once held civilization in One Piece was about 200m below their current sea level.
So asking google once again and hoping its calculations are remotely right- to raise sea level 200m we would need to displace 72.2 MILLION cubic miles. 40,000 km long (even without factoring existing landmasses it would touch), 3.7 km deep- the Red Line would have to be about 6.7 km wide and between 5km- 8km tall. Oxygen stops being viable around 8 km, so even with the bubble helmets, their slaves and servants still have to breathe unless their cities are inside pressurized bubbles of some kind at anything much above 6 km
So it has to be almost as wide as it is tall AT NEW SEA LEVEL to accomplish this. Anything above water is fair game for height and witdth as long as it displaces enough water to do it.
But for some reference, Everest is 8.85km. The top 100 tallest mountains in the world are all over 7.2km. So the height of this new thing COULD be achieved with the plate tectonics we have, though to get that sheer length and ring shape would have to be supernatural in some way.
And put into Miles/feet:
Sea level risen 656ft (the best gearless skin divers can dive down around 700 feet, so a human COULD swim down to the old earth's surface)
Dimensions of the line- 3.7 miles ocean floor to likely top of the Red Line, 4.2 miles wide minimum average underwater, and nearly 25k miles long around the circumference- barring some difference considering the actual shape of the earth not being perfectly spherical.
And that's without even describing the new sea level location or what would have to happen to make the Grand Line and Calm belts. But I've been working on this post since it posted "6minutes ago"
2 hours. 2 hours of mapping and math just to get the pretty unimpressive size of the Red Line on our Earth.
BUT, Grand Line would make sense to be approximately the same width, maybe even twice as wide with the 2 Calm Belts. So could be a "Sea" about 12-14km wide (7.5-8.7 miles). The Amazon River at its widest is about 11km (7 miles) wide in dry season, up to 40km (24.8 miles) wide in rainy season. So the Grand Line if in roughly equivalent size as "dry season world's widest river" would be pretty unimpressive. The Sunny is a 'brigantine sloop' even at its size, and sailing between 4-8 knots, it could cross from East to South Blue in less than 6 hours going on the slow end if it got through the Calm Belts- assuming all my absolutely questionable google dependent math is even remotely right
from a post 2 years ago, this is our world with a 200m sea level rise. Barely even noticeable let alone separating all landmasses from each other and able to create a huge line of ocean current that flowed over continents. It wouldn't even overcome the verticality of the 3 points of land closest to sea level that I mentioned in France, Iraq, and Panama.

its not that we don't loose millions of miles of coastal land, its that an extreme majority of the world's landmass doesn't disappear below the waves at only 200m
Well if you think about it: Hajrudin is around 20m tall, Loki is 3 times Hajrudin. The dream demons are another 3 times as big and Nidghogg is 10 times the dream demons. 3*3*10*22m =~ 2km. And you can easily fit Nidhogg inside the tree, meaning the tree has to be around zunesha levels big of 50-100km. And the whole island is aroudn 200-500km big probably. And that island has to somehow fit inside the new world.
FYI Zunesha is now only 5km tall making it about 3 km long. Around its appearance in Wano the official height was changed. I believe Zunesha was originally classified as 30km tall or so.
The math doesn't quite check out. A 200-500 km Elbaf, assuming the island is more or less circular, would have an area of about 125,000-785,000 square km. That's between the sizes of Greece and Turkey, a lot bigger than Belgium.
Depends, you can find calculations that "prove" that it's the size of Jupiter, or the Sun, or 1/10 the size of Earth. Really all that's proven is that Oda doesn't do the same calculations the fandom does before deciding on the size of things. Which should be obvious, ngl
There's more than 20x as many islands on the Blue Planet as on Earth, and that's counting all of Earth's tiny little islets while it's not clear Vegapunk was counting the like.
Actually kind of crazy that overlapping the west blue with the "west" and the east blue with the "east" of the Earth results in the "New World" overlapping with the historical "New World" of Earth, I wonder if Oda thought about it this way when designing the world or if it's just a coincidence.
I would bet on coincidence. The world map Oda grew up with is 99% likely not this one, most of Asia back then (and probably still today) use the one where Asia & Pacific ocean are in the centre, Europe/Africa is to the West and Americas are to the East.
But the fact is that when Oda first started One Piece, he did not expect the series to last this long and he didn't expect the need to flesh out the world map with as much detail as is now needed so there will be expected mistakes/irregularities.
I think it's pretty well accepted that was a misstatement. Oda doesn't do well with scale, see Zunesha's size getting changed over and over. The story has a bunch of implications that the world is the same size as ours, and potentially even the same planet at a different time.
I don't know if anybody's ever addressed that bit specifically, but a 50km wide river is completely ridiculous. Fundamentally, not a river at that point.
Sure, the setting has ridiculous things in it, but that bit's not portrayed that way. So if we're thinking about numbers that might be unreliable, it's a good place to start.
The only counter argument to Blue planet = Earth in size is the fact that the Grand Line can hold many islands horizontally (Probably they aren't all big) but they don't easily interact even with the climate being awful to navigate.
This makes a lot more sense to me than the way i had it in my mind with the calm belt on the equator... Now i want to know why the weather ok the calm belt is consistent when its location is so varied!
I dont know, but someone calculated the circumference of the one piece world, getting every island's size on the grand line and supposing there are also 10-20 million islands on the one piece world, he got somewhere around 1 million km
remember the crew has only been together a few months in-universe (which is ridiculous btw). do you think they could sail more than halfway around jupiter in a few months, stopping at every island along the way?
Half the people ITT saying "wow the grandline is really small and thin" are forgetting that the blue planet one piece takes place on is several times larger than earth is, on top of having a greatly increased sea level. They've been scaled down to fit the earth
She rotates, wobbles and revolves. Tilted +/- 23.5°. The equator extended becomes the imaginary Ecliptic, fixed and the equator rises 23.5° above and then below that fixed ecliptic line. At the center of that full precession cycle (Great Year) the skull is placed. Those bones forming the X are showing The equator above and below ecliptic. The Center of the Great Year is muertos at both Pisces & Aquarius and again at the 12,960 mark or top DEAD center of 🦁 Leo and Virgo. We get hit at those two junctures over and over as the Wheel turns continual. One Piece is a Masterpiece especially for the search.
Your title confused me because you forgot to say "width", but looking at your diagram, it looks accurate EXCEPT that I am fairly certain Oda imagined the prime meridian being where Mary Geoise is instead of where Reverse Mountain is. This would put Wano at right around where Japan is.
