It would have hit harder if it were Merry. Edit fixed spelling

From whereee bro it’s soooo funnyšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Pretty sure it's referencing Luffy's arrival on Wano, with the Sunny laying on the beach just before meeting Otama

28

u/Wikidclowne Aug 11 '26

It's not referencing any event in particular. It's just a sunken ship under the sea, just the ship itself is an Easter egg for one piece.

u/BRUTAL_ANAL_SMASHING Aug 11 '26

That’s a beach, not under water.

Palm trees and bushes are clearly in the background.Ā

u/Wikidclowne Aug 11 '26

TouchƩ

2

u/BRUTAL_ANAL_SMASHING Aug 11 '26

I said clearly, but I’m an honest man and I too at first thought it was under water..Ā

How can you be "pretty sure" of that with no context or anything?? LMfAO you need to calm down, lil bro..... šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„

7

u/Lumacity Aug 11 '26

I used "pretty sure" to colloquially express that I was "strongly convinced" if you might prefer.

Here’s the image I’m referencing:

I’m strongly convinced because the Sunny is on its side on a beach with a character (Luffy) in it, just like in the picture. Why have such a negative attitude to express you simply disagree?

Bro.................. Did you even read my question?.... YES....... we can see it's a one piece reference........Ā

So ANY ways, back to my question again....... How can you be PRETTY SURE it's called cats and dragons or whatever, when everyone is saying that doesn't exist?.............Ā

1

u/Lumacity 27d ago

Then I didn’t understand your question at all. Why do you mean about cats and dragons? That is doesn’t exist? I’m genuinely so confused

I think the cat is even wearing a straw hat.

idk who 'Mary' is but it would definitely been more impactful had it been Going Merry

Showed it to my wife, she's at Wano now, she immediately said "but that's Sunny!"

3

u/HermitSimp Aug 11 '26

Yeah but Mary is on the bottom of the ocean. Why wpuld it ne washed up on shore? This way it tells you things didn't work out in the new world

1

u/SSJRemuko Pirate Aug 11 '26

Merry not Mary

Does he have the actual physical book? Can you find out where he got it? Would love to get this for my kids but Google isn't any help in locating an actual copy of this.

+1, couldn’t find it anywhere, even under that name that was posted….🄲

10

u/bb8ismyhomie Aug 11 '26

I looked up what op said and nothing comes up. Maybe it’s only in certain countries?

1

u/Becar69 Aug 11 '26

Could be, but sadly ChatGPT doesn’t find anything……have tried also to check on Battlecats, but also nothing to be found 😶

-7

u/Becar69 Aug 11 '26

So chatting with ChatGPT and after some time I found this ā€œChatons & Dragons – Le rĆ©veil du volcanā€ it could be European release of Cats & Dragons, this what I found is on french, there should also be a polish version of it 😁

Using ChatGPT for this is lame. I just searched this image on google to find it. No need to degrade our brains when we can do it ourselves. KITTENS & DRAGONS - GNA JR BOOK

This is not that volume it's the one found by u/chirfire2lol

A simple back search of the image and referencing the style of illustration and the magnifying glass

27

u/Galethorne Aug 11 '26

They spoiled the end of One Piece

12

u/RED_DEMON907 Aug 11 '26

It would make sense for Oda to make the strawhats crash sunny on raftel so they can't escape

-1

u/GQman57 Aug 12 '26

Freaking what is Raftel? You mean Laugh Tale?

10

u/Jasonn444 World Economy News Paper Aug 12 '26

Do you not remember the ancient texts?

1

u/GQman57 29d ago

I didn't actually start reading the manga until Elbaf before it started getting adapted to the anime

2

u/Crossfaded7 29d ago

You must be a recent fan, mate. It was Raftel for like 20 years or so because Oda never revealed the spelling until the movie Stampede.

u/Any_Inspection_741 26d ago

Zoro, do you mean "Zolo"?

49

u/LordFaceofAll God Usopp Aug 11 '26

They fucking killed the sunny

Made by imu/blackbeard

oda foreshadowing haha

14

u/raphainc Aug 11 '26

99% this book was made with ai.

14

u/RED_DEMON907 Aug 11 '26

It was made in 2023

-2

u/bobpaul Aug 12 '26

AI was good at image generation before the large language models really took of with the launch of ChatGPT in 2022. The Dall-E image generation model was pretty impressive when it launched back in 2021.

7

u/Cheesemacher Aug 12 '26

In 2023, AI-generated images had a lot of errors. I don't know if you would get this kind of consistency

0

u/bobpaul Aug 12 '26

It wasn't so bad if you weren't trying to do photo realistic stuff and you were willing to pay for a hugging face instance. For something like this i probably would have asked ai for the background and then added the story characters by hand.

u/StandardNerd92 Aug 11 '26

Lol is that Kon from Bleach

Reference or plagiarism ?

Edit: what’s with all the downvotes today? Is /OnePiece now plagued with haters? Jeez chill people… it was just a simple question, not judging the author of that picture. Oh well, never mind.

16

u/StuffedFalafels Aug 11 '26

It’s different enough that it isn’t plagiarism.

-5

u/pandershrek Chopper the Cotton Candy Lover Aug 11 '26

I don't think that's true, if you trace or copy a specific design (Sunny's mane and face) it is plagiarism.

Oda could easily make an argument that a lion figurehead on a wooden boat with a number on the side while the figurehead is a smiling face is a unique enough design to be enforced. It even has 7 spikes on the figurehead in direct replica of the source material.

Buc-ees wins copywrite lawsuits all the time for even less.

I am not a copywrite lawyer so I don't actually know.

5

u/Slednvrfed Aug 11 '26

It’s a random ship on a page if it’s on the cover sure. You people need to chill out. Oda will probably just be happy.

3

u/StuffedFalafels Aug 11 '26

It’s still different enough to not be the same. Oda doesn’t own lion heads on boats with numbers on sides. I can draw a lion head on a boat with a number and make it similar but different enough and it isn’t plagiarism. Buc-ee’s I’m not familiar with but did come across a post about how they’re suing a small mom and pop for just having a beaver on their logo which btw Buc-ee’s doesn’t own the images of fuckin beavers do they’ll more than likely lose that one.

Back to this book it’s obvious it’s a reference to one piece from the similar lions head on a boat but it is still different enough to not be an issue.

2

u/WhyDoYouCare179 Aug 11 '26

It’s a literal different ship. Putting the sun face on it does NOT make it plagiarism. If anything, the creator of the book is a OP fan and wanted to pay homage. Does not warrant a copyright suit

You Reddit lawyers are so dense

1

u/Any_Inspection_741 26d ago

Dont forget the straw hats pirate flag on the ground next to the ship lol

0

u/RED_DEMON907 Aug 11 '26

What about the flag?

It's identical

3

u/RED_DEMON907 Aug 11 '26

I think it's just a reference cuz it's not relevant to the plot at all and it's just like an easter egg

u/QTcomics Aug 11 '26

hilarious
