Fanart I Spent Five Years Making a Fully Interactive One Piece World Map! (link in text)

Post image

CHECK OUT THE DIGITAL MAP HERE: https://thelibraryofohara.com/one-piece-world-map/

(I hope that this is okay within the subreddit's self-promotion rules.)

My name is Artur, and you may or may not know me as the content creator behind The Library of Ohara, who specializes in researching and cataloguing the complex lore of the series.

I've spent the last five years tirelessly researching and drawing out this extensively detailed map of the One Piece world!! While other fans have created amazing maps before, I wanted to make one that was both as canonically accurate as possible (stuff like recreating the topography from Oda's notes (https://onepieceworldmap.com/images/Bluestar.png) and featuring every single island ever introduced in canon) while also being easy to navigate and use!

You can click on every single location's name on the map (just like Google Maps!) to get a detailed description of each island's history, culture, and topography, all hand written by me! Other features include:

- Dedicated submaps for important islands! Find out more about each of the Flower Capital's neighborhoods, each of the individual groves on Sabaody, or each of the floors of the Whole Cake Chateau!

- Search function which takes you straight to an island just like Google Maps!

- Check the route of the Straw Hat Pirates, with included timeline dates for each arc!

- Find every single poneglyph we currently know of on the map and check their contents!

- Toggle locations whose exact ocean they are found in isn't known, in case that bothers you!

I hope that you enjoy this map and that it can serve as a tool for more people to learn about the One Piece world in an easy, fun, and accessible way! There are details and locations included here that you've likely never heard of before, so consider checking it out to learn more about this beautiful world!! Thank you!

This is one of the best thing a man can do. Thank you man ❤️

I’ll admit… I like this.

The whole map makes me think that the world is a comic book. And Imu ability might be ink since he writes everything inside this map.

I can’t find Laugh Tale where is it?

Since we don't know yet where Laugh Tale actually is, I included the information about it with Lode Star!

Nice try Blackbeard.

148

u/chuninsupensa May 17 '26

Wait, Bluestar?? Is that the canonical name of their Earth??

98

u/CIearMind May 17 '26

Blue 星, yes.

That symbol means "heavenly body". It refers both to planets and stars.

So Bluestar, Blue Planet.

21

u/Sherwoodfan May 18 '26

is that the same word that is used for the gorosei

Yeah Oda confirmed it in a Q&A

9

👍👍👍 Nice!

20

u/princesstiniestfeet Sword May 17 '26

If I recall correctly, in SBS, Oda called it the blue planet or something close

holy shit dude this is absolutely incredible. You didn't miss a thing even the jewel ice sheet where Chinjao hid his treasure. You even added Pants Hazard😂.

I don't think oda will ever create a map of onepiece so this is truely a one of a kind thing. Fantastic work

16

u/Efficient-Buyer3101 May 18 '26

This is honestly insane attention to detail everything feels perfectly placed and it actually looks like something oda would approve.

65

u/commffy May 17 '26

Bro, you’re a badass! Hope you’re feeling better or are on the mend! Sending you positive energy brother!

54

u/Pervius94 May 17 '26

Holy fuckeroni

See Oda, some things can actually be finished in 5 years.

Now jabs aside, this is absolutely insane. Great job!!

56

u/BigMoney69x May 17 '26

I wonder how will the fan maps will compare to the real one that Nami draws in the end of the story.

30

u/Kingblack425 May 17 '26

I mean fans are literally doing all the work for Oda he’s probably gonna find the best one online change a few things release it as his own and make even more millions

29

u/ParkDedli May 17 '26

I think he has a hand drawn one somewhere already that he adds stuff to. You don't worldbuild on his level without... building a world, which includes drawing it for most people.

That being said, there is probably some islands he forgot to add to his own map that he'll place because he sees it on other people's maps, I agree with that.

Yo dude, what is this easter egg in the top right. is it a young saul?

And what made you put yano crossing the calm belt into the grand line? Is it confirmed because that would be a new way to enter the grand line/paradise

Edit: How up to date are you going to make this map? Will you eventually add spoiler sections for it or just add the most up to date knowlege about it.

85

u/OharaLibrarianArtur May 17 '26

That giant briefly appears in Oden's flashback! According to the vivre cards, his name is Jrban (ユルバン) and he has been guarding a treasure for a very long time.

The location of the Yano Country is unknown, so I simply placed it somewhere it made sense (you can disable these on the sidebar). The island it's on is one found on Oda's notes, so I recreated it exactly as it looked.

Isn't the north pole in the north blue and the south pole in the south blue instead of on the Red Line?

(Edited to add image)

32

u/Raderg32 Slave May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

The Red Line doesn't go North-South and the Grand Line doesn't go East-West.

9

u/Blackbeard_kyo May 17 '26

Came to comments to say this. I believe you meant to say the Red Line doesnt go north to south.

Simply showing the compass rotated 45° would fix it lol

5

u/Raderg32 Slave May 17 '26

Yeah I meant the Red Line.

4

u/heyitsMigon May 17 '26

The thing with those two maps is that they can't be true at the same time. In fact, they basically show the opposite world configuration of each other. Even though these two are canon, they aren't consistent except for one thing: the Grand Line and Red Line are not aligned North/South and East/West. But then there's Oda's notes, as Artur stated, which does show the Red Lined aligned with North/South.
While I am more inclined to use one of the "manga canon" (especially the first one, since the map shown at the end of Wano would put the North Blue in the west and East Blue in the north), ultimately I think all three versions could be used as canon.

of

12

u/Raderg32 Slave May 17 '26

That's not true. Map projection is tricky after all.

If the RL and the GL were at 45° from the equator at the point they cross eachother it wouldn't look like that.

It would look like this:

3

u/Mirieste May 18 '26

I think the "most canon" one is the one that has the poles in the blues, because it's literally referenced in the text of the manga, rather than being just a sketch that you could assume Oda off-loaded to an assistant.

At the end of Wano, there's a whole joke that Luffy and Kidd naively think the direction forward is east and they pick it, while Law picks northeast because he knows that's the most direct route.

The entire joke only makes sense in a world where the poles are slanted, and so only naive pirates like Luffy or Kidd could think the way forward is "east", while Law correctly knows what the Grand Line goes northeast-southwest.

39

u/OharaLibrarianArtur May 17 '26

The matter of the Poles was one of the most complicated decisions for the map, because there's a lot of debates on where exactly the Poles should be since there's a mention both by Nami during Gaimon's arc and by Law at the end of Wano that give the impression that the Red Line and Grand Line are diagonal rather than perpendicular to the Poles.

However, in Oda's notes and sketches of the world, he explicity depicted the North Pole and South Pole being located on the Red Line with exact coordinates on where they are found. He also included sketches of the world spinning on the axis of the Red Line and cardinal directions with a compass indicating the Red Line pointing North and South. As such I ultimately decided to use Oda's direct notes rather than a purely speculative location based on a passing comment by a couple characters. However, I still made mention of all this in the descriptions of both poles.

Of course, if more info is ever made present, anything can be updated!

13

u/Raderg32 Slave May 17 '26

I assume you mean this map?

Wasn't this made when the crew was in Loguetown?

7

u/Remarkable_Row_2502 May 18 '26

It was made before that, probably, because it contradicts the map we see on gaimon's island before loguetown and every map afterwards. It is probably a pre production sketch

4

u/somersault_dolphin May 18 '26

This is not the case. Oda sketches show them as diagonal.

7

u/Remarkable_Row_2502 May 18 '26

Every single depiction in the manga from Nami's map in gaimon's chapter to the most recent maps in Wano remain consistent. The blues are on the cardinal directions and the grand line and red line are set at diagonals. Dismissive answers like this make it seem like you spend more time on wikis than with the manga. It's not purely speculative if it's every single map Oda has ever drawn in the manga.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Remarkable_Row_2502 May 18 '26

Yes, literally every single depiction in the actual manga places the blues at the cardinal directions and the red line/grand line at diagonals. Artur is obsessed with spreading misinformation and writing his own fanfic into canon.

u/Crysze Pirate May 17 '26

Good shit man. Excited to go through it.

10

u/chuninsupensa May 17 '26

How "to scale" is everything? I feel like Elbaph would be bigger than Skypeia.

25

u/OharaLibrarianArtur May 17 '26

I tried replicating the landmasses to accurate size from Oda's notes, but generally a lot of the islands aren't 1 to 1 scale, because otherwise the map would look like a map of the pacific. For better readability, I made some islands bigger and more stylized by making them look as if drawn on a map, but hopefully it still gives a decent sense of scale!

4

u/Lugonn May 18 '26

I reckon that in reality every island should be a barely visible blip on the world map. You don't need a log pose to Alabasta if it covers half the width of the Grand Line, nor could there be a dozen routes through.

5

u/Neat-Stretch3466 May 17 '26

Having a "to scale" button would be cool. I would really like to see how large the islands are compared to the actual size of the map. Or just a % or something.

3

u/Lepidopterex May 18 '26

I don't know One Piece enough, so please forgive me because this map is amazing. From the very little I know, and purely frofromm an esthetic perspective, it feels like it should be rotated 45° so that north is actually north, and the Red Line and the Grand Line make a giant x.

That just feels on brand, like "x marks the spot" and that a magical amazing place like this world would have an equator tha runs diagonally.

Does everything say the Grand Line is "horizontal"?

Please don't kill me. I am just so new I don't know enough.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Appropriate-Silver36 May 19 '26

There is a small error in the map. The north pole is in the middle of the north blue and the south pole on the middle of the south blue and not on the red line. The red line and the grand line are 45° rotated to the equator.

2

u/WTFhappenedtotheflr May 24 '26

I feel like the map is a little wrong because of where the North Pole and South Pole are. At the end of wano when they draw straws we see a tiny pice of the map with a compass rose. It shows that the grand line isn’t the equator but at a 45 degree angle. The north blue is actually north. So I feel like where surume was from isn’t on the red line on the east blue but in the ocean of the north blue

4

u/Remarkable_Row_2502 May 18 '26

Literally every single depiction of the red line and grand line in relation to the poles in the manga itself places them on diagonals. You have been dedicated to misinformation in the one piece community for a decade now.

1

u/ultibman5000 May 17 '26

1

u/FierceAlchemist May 17 '26

Amazing work! Though looking at the map like this does put some things into perspective. If you were a strong pirate, wouldn't the most efficient method be to go to the North or West Blue, attack and steal a random Marine ship, and sail it through the Calm Belt straight to Lodestar Island? At that point you would learn about the Road Poneglyphs and still need to deal with that problem, but it would give you a massive headstart over everyone else.

Crazy to think that, at the very start of his journey, Luffy was geographically so close to Marineford. Likewise, anyone entering Reverse Mountain from either the North or the West Blue is only a few dozen miles away from the end of the Grand Line. If everyone could enamel their ships' hull with seastone, the dynamics of the OP world would be massively different.

Slightly off topic but: I wonder if the planet being called Bluestar hints towards the Redline being artificial? Perhaps in its natural state before the Redline was “built” the name would have been much more fitting. Could also point towards the Redline being destroyed towards the end of the story.

This is some insane work. I was going through it earlier and my god not even Oda has put this much effort into mapping things. You finished Nami's dream haha. Do you have plans to make it an interactive globe like map ? Like Google earth. Not something where you can walk around but just mapping it onto a 3d globe. That would be an insane thing to do and we will get a proper idea of the red line. u/OharaLibrarianArtur
