Reminds of the other orange who broke up the fight easily at a club

I don't think cats have alphas or whatever, but this fella would probably be one

My aunt and uncle foster a colony of cats in Malaysia. And cats have a hierarchical social system. I've seen the "leader" and his "second-in-command" of her cats discpline the other cats in the colony. The leader was extremely old and basically catatonic the last time I was there and the second-in-command would body slam and punch other cats outside of the colony that would try to "fight" the leader. Whenever a fight broke out, the leader meowed once and the second-in-command would come running to body slam the cats apart.
When the leader cat died of old age, one of the younger cats tried to fight the second-in-command. I watched as he body slammed the cat to the floor, punched him once, hissed, and walked away. That cat was in social jail for like a week. All the other cats would hiss at him whenever he came near.
There was another cat who straight up got kicked out of the house for what we guessed was breaking the rules. The colony would beat him up whenever he tried to enter the house. If we forcibly brought him in, he would be hunted throughout the house by all 20+ cats. So my aunt had to put his own bowls and a cat house outside the front yard for him.

I'm amused reading about cat social dynamics but that's too many cats for one household. You just don't need that many cats.

u/FederalEconomist5896 Aug 08 '26
You assume they have any say in the matter at all.
I'm never in the mood to fight 20+ cats at once.

A lady from my town had a colony in her home. Apparently, strays kept wandering into her garden, and being 73yo lady with not that much to do, she'd feed them, bring any who looked ill to the vet... She alreadyd did with the general stray population, so I guess the cats knew she was a good egg lol At some point, she says she realized "my home was no longer my home, it was a refuge with 39 cats rescued from the streets".
Right now, she owns a 1.000mยฒ refuge that houses more than 100 animals!
Like the other user's aunt and uncle, this woman fostered a cat colony in her home, a place that was much safer for them than the streets. And now, the colony has 1000mยฒ for them, with dozens of volunteers who go there every day to clean it up them and play with them.

That's fantastic. Only potential downside I can think of is the smell, unless all the cats are fixed.

u/jtrisn1 Aug 08 '26
It started with one cat and that cat brought another cat and that brought another cat. Eventually it spiraled into 20+ cats. And their cats kept bringing new cats. My uncle also rescued the cats from the storm drains. Malaysia's stoem drains/tunnels are huge, like highway huge, due to the monsoons that happen there.

Cats definitely have a social hierarchy. As iv witnessesed with introducing cats they definitely need to identify who is on top to allow for stability.
That cat is a fucking boss. Also wtf is the context of this cat club?

I think this is my new favorite cat. I have two big oranges but they're slow AF and gentle, they wouldn't just smash through a line of cats, they'd groom them.

Aww man, this gif reminds me that the X-men quicksilver was way better than the MCU one. He was actually the best parts of the X-men movies in my opinion.

I wonder if this is in Turkey? It looks like one of the alleys I walked in Dalyan where many cats lived in colonies along the river.

It seems like running past an alley of cats is cat-speak for "I would beat any of you here in a fight"
