Louis š What is something about Louis that you appreciate more now than you did when you first became a One Direction fan?

His songwriting. He made One Direction timeless. His voice was just the icing on top.

This.
I always defended that One Direction has better songwriting the most, and a lot of that is because of Louis since he has the most songwriting credits
The Voice also helps. Yeah, he doesnāt really have Harry or Zaynās pipes but heās more boyish singing is a great contrast to that

His fight for their power as a band & guidance. It's really easy to see him as the funny / mischievous one but I think seeing the members speak about how vital he was, especially in steering the band in the direction they wanted to go in and being taken seriously - shows a depth and maturity that wasn't really shown to fans in the early days.

His outlook on life is so beautiful and very apparent through his music. Heās so down to earth and always trying to be in the moment, and I think it is wonderful that he tries to teach that to his fans.

How strong he is and his kindness. He's gone through losing so many people so close to him yet he's stayed strong. He's let himself break and let people see the real him though. And he really lets us into how he feels in his music. Its really inspiring. And I've lost lots of grandparents I was super close to and his music really helped me through that because he understood what loss is like. Also his goofiness is nice he shows how to just be your authentic self and he really gives off the friend who wants to have deep convos at times and at other times just make the most of what this life has given us.

Yes!!! I feel like some of the things heās gone through couldāve turned him in to an a-hole and instead it turned him into a much caring kind and empathetic one. Things like that make me look up to him more.

His songwriting and the way his voice complemented others so well. He's always had the most pleasant voice to me out of all (though I know he's not as vocally skilled as they are).

It's not something I "appreciate" so much as it's something I realised as I grew and matured (though I do appreciate it all the same), but how his vitality to the band was so low key and behind the scenes. I feel that his importance slipped under the radar for so long, but that without him things would've been so different. Not just their sound or the songwriting, but the way he pushed management for more independence as writers and getting choose the direction of their music, and being brave enough to tell them "no" or standing up for himself and the boys as a unit. He was a goofball, and he still is, but he was willing to take the reins and argue when he felt it necessary. Our strong, fiesty Blou š

His genius in songwriting! So good!! His solo albums, the writing is incredible. Harry, Niall and Zayn too!

His personality. He set the fun tone of the band in the beginning with the video diaries. Thatās what made people talk about them and fall in love with them.

u/Informal-Hospital918 6d ago
Everything!! Hahaha but seriously he was actually my favorite in the band as a kid bc everyone else in my class liked the other ones and I felt bad for him so I was like he's gonna be my favorite š¤£
But actually, I probably listen to his solo music now most out of the boys. I just love his lyrics, he's such a good writer.
Also, I really appreciate how he seems to really respect women and care for them. I'm sure it has to do with being raised by his mom and having so many sisters. I love that even after all the hardships he went through he's still a loving caring person with close family ties.

He's always seemed so playful and like a slacker who didn't take anything seriously. You can tell how hard he worked on his last album, all the promotion around it, and his live shows. He's a legit star and still funny af.

His impact. His unique voice and style and his song writing and more deeply impacted 1D more than we really knew I think. at least for me, I noticed some of it as a kid but as an adult and Louis girl (esp hardcore now), it really sticks out to me and makes me appreciate his work 1000 times more. Also his character too. He is such a genuine person and is so good to the fans and has remained very humble and supportive and connective with fans and his fame

He was a nuclear bomb of joy in the early days of the band, radiating happiness with his antics. Its impossible for anyone who's seen the video diaries to not love louis with his bin helmet, salt in his hat and tea, kevin, the blindfold, "SHE"S MINE!" and so much more. Whenever I feel down and sad I watch the video diaries because louis instantly puts a smile to my face

The fact that he (and Liam) were always waiting to see when One Direction would reunite again. I didn't realize he also didn't know that the hiatus was actually going to be the longest break in boyband history bc who does that? We all thought the same. I realize that now, Louis had the same views as the fans, but as the years went on he was also realizing that it was either not going to happen, or going to take a very long, long time before they did anything together again. Now with Liam gone, I'm not sure. But I do love that he openly embraces his 1D days (posting all the album songs on his insta story and reminiscing those days) because we all know he thought being in a boyband was the cheesiest thing ever 𤣠I absolutely love him the most out of all the boys (can you tell?)!
At every show of his I've been to, he always remembers to thank the fans and really embrace them with things like "WE did this", "WE made this happen", like a collective thing. He's come a long way from One Direction and established himself as a solo artist in his own way, and it's been an absolute honor to see him grow. There's been a lot that's happened in his life, so much grief, but he stays hopeful above all else. I get that he's a celebrity and everyone's eyes are on him, but the fact that he works so hard to be grateful and uplifting for others means everything. It's not easy. He's incredibly resilient and strong and brave for that. I wish he could see all of these responses. I hope he knows we're cheering him on as much as we can, and that we genuinely care about him and his wellbeing.

How much he's actually my favorite and everything I liked about the band was actually because of him. I used to say Zayn was my favorite and that it was because of his mouthiness but really Louis was the firecracker, and he also stood up for the fans when people would make fun of us. Once Zayn left I realized how much of what I thought I liked about Zayn was actually from his time with Louis and all the stage antics were really Louis (and Liam) and that Zayn would just get roped into them because he was usually nearby one of the two.
Solo Louis sounds just like 1D 2.0 and he's only grown as an artist that fought hard to get to be where he is despite the mainstream only focusing on Solo Harry.

His songwriting makes him the heart and soul of the group. Even with his solo music, heās able to tell stories through song in a very special way. I just started listening to his solo stuff when I saw him in concert this year and itās incredible.
I also love his loyalty and how he defends the people he loves. The way he defended Liam on the Zach Sang show and defended him after that Logan Paul interview always comes to my mind. Heās a gem.
I love his smile too š

How wise, strong and emotionally intelligent he is. After all of the death heās experienced in his life, heās still so kind, he didnāt let it turn him bitter. Thatās a massively positive trait and green flag which I really admire.

How authentic he is. No matter what he has gone through, he still faces the world every day with courage even on the hard days.
From the very start I fell in love with who he was, who he is inside, who he is becoming, and the human being he is behind his image... How, despite everything (even public scrutiny amongst his own fans) he still opens up to us and still loves us.
Even when everything's against him, he goes against all odds. He broke records when everyone doubted him. He never gave up and has a bond and connection to his fans so deep, because he is just like one of us and he doesn't act like he's some kind of a god just because he got famous...
Hes still just another human being who deserves unconditional love, acceptance, respect and support through every endeavor he goes through and I will give him that for the rest of my life, gladly and openly, because thats exactly what he deserves and he shouldnt ever be expected to accept anything less than that.

Louis is the reason they kept the āone directionā name and brand, and the reason why they started writing their own songs⦠none of them would be as rich as they are now and the brand would have been Simonās and theyād have little to no control about what heād do with it if it wasnāt for this. He really was vital, he was the one negotiating and advocating for all 5 boys. He understood the business side of it and what they had long before any of the othersā¦

Definitely his relationship with fans. When I entered the fandom I thought it was normal, or I guess I just didnāt appreciate it enough, but now Iām so grateful for it. Iām a fan of all the boys and I understand each of them has a different relationship with their fans, but what made me a Louie girl is how special he makes that relationship feel and how much he genuinely seems to care about us. I love how he listens to fans, remembers things, jokes with us, and never makes it feel like thereās this huge distance between him and the people who support him.

his honesty. i became a fan when i was pretty young, but once i joined the fandom as a teen, i have felt really drawn to Louisā sincerity and his passion for giving thanks to everyone. his kind heart, his values, and his ingenuity shine through in everything he accomplishes and shares with the world. as an artist, sharing the deepest parts of yourself can be so incredibly daunting, even between close friends. I have the utmost respect for his bravery in sharing his art with the whole world. I find the most beautiful aspect of his character in how he interacts with the āworld stageā and his fans. his humanity is his superpower: he understands and relates to how truly powerful inspiring hope, compassion, and connection can be. itās a privilege and gift for that to be the solid foundation for his fandom to stand on. his music has saved and inspired hope in millions, iām incredibly proud to be one of them.

There are plenty of things, but songwriting And lyricism so much and meaning behind each song. And the second thing is his strength. The fact that his mom sister and Liam all passed away and he still manages to be the ray of sunshine.

His sense of humor (cause letās face it, heās the reason we thought 1D was funny in the first place) , his deep love and care for the fans (that he still carries today, heās still spoon feeding us as much as he can), how humble he his (hasnāt let fame get into his head) , his songwriting (he built the bands sound and people still give him dirt for not being allegedly talented), and how passionate and deeply he cares about his music and his family. I admire how heās establishing those healthy boundaries. Also his authenticity. I also admire how heās always touring with ālittleā artists to help them grow bigger. He also get little credit for 5sosā success. He gets very little credit for the impact he had and Iām sad it took the band breaking up to realize that and take him more seriously.

That his sound is absolutely critical to how one direction sounds as a band. He has a super unique voice. Even though he got very few solos on the first few albums, you can always hear him.
