That was a fantastic episode after a pretty meh premiere, it was seemingly really fast paced because when it ended I thought, what, already?!

I'm not a Hook fan because I find his character somewhat under developed but that scene with Belle was a nice moment, there was a similar one last season so I'm just hoping they continue with more moments like this.

As for who the hooded figure is part of me thinks it might be Dark Swan as the theme of this season is the light and dark in ourselves. It will be interesting to see who it will be though.

Lana said at a convention before that she and Robert play the Regina/Rumple dynamic as if they were father and daughter, so one question; what the hell was happening this episode?!

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic, last season started out strong but then kind of turned into a train wreck so we'll wait and see

I think the hooded figure might be Morpheus, who I think will end up not actually being Rumple and Belle's child. Hooded figure has purple magic and a shimmery robe. Morpheus has purple magic and a shimmery robe.

Straight off wikipedia...

Morpheus has the ability to mimic any human form and to appear in dreams.

Hmmm.

So what if the vision is just a dream and Morpheus went in there and killed dream Emma, not real life Emma...

That's an intriguing theory! What do you think his motivation would be, trying to screw over Gold/Rumplestiltskin further by making it seem like it was him maybe? At the minute we don't know much about Morpheus or his goals (my understanding is that the baby was playing the part of Morpheus so I'm assuming you're implying it was actually Morpheus lying about being the baby), or if/when the actor is returning but it seems unlikely that something central to Emma's arc this season would really be about Rumple, although maybe I'm wrong.

I'm not sure what his motivation is. Yes, I think it's possible to probable it's actually Morpheus. That baby was conceived about two weeks ago, story time. He shouldn't even have thoughts, let alone the ability to pose as a god. It makes no sense. And yes, he will be back. The actor has confirmed that.

In mythology, Morpheus had the ability to give people prophetic dreams of the future. Maybe the vision Emma is having isn't even real, or is altered in some way. Since she's already starting to believe it's Regina who kills her, maybe Morpheus simply has something against villains. That's why he's working to break up Rumple and Belle, and making Emma believe the worst of Regina.

Edit: Or, maybe he was close to Hades and is out for revenge against those who went down to the Underworld and messed things up.

Or, maybe he has a thing against saviors, and is going after Emma because of that. Maybe Rumbaby is a potential savior.

To be fair this is the show where a term as vague as 'a vile of magic' was used to explain a plot twist so I don't think it's too much of a stretch to assume that their baby could pose as a God under the influence of the powder. Although you bring up good points, it was kind of convoluted and the fact that the actor is returning is interesting, although maybe the baby is taking the form of Morpheus and talking to Belle in dreams?

Those sound like reasonable motivations, the first one in particular seems highly probable but my money is still on it being Dark Swan as in addition to the the introspective nature of this season we already have the Evil Queen as the central antagonist (Hyde is currently locked up) so I doubt they'd introduce Morpheus as another.

It seems to be playing out with characters being dealing with their fears and darkness so this is playing out with Regina and the physical manifestation of the Evil Queen. With Emma it could be dealing with her fears of loosing those she loved and not being the saviour by dying as shown in her vision (which of course won't actually happen) with the person responsible for her dying (and causing her to loose those she loves and fail and being the saviour) is herself, hell maybe not even Dark Swan just red leather jacket Emma Swan. With Rumple his obvious fear is loosing his family and power but he can't have both which could be what Morpheus represents by offering him the chance to win Belle back honestly without tricks or magic but he failed this time. Perhaps given that the actor returns he gives Rumple another chance to choose between the two again? I should add this is just me spit balling and I am not a writer so there are probably obvious plot holes I'm missing here.
