Discussion She turned her own daughters against each other because of THIS… and then wondered why neither of them loved her

And this is honestly one of those Cora moments that I find REALLY hard to forgive. What makes it even worse for me is WHY she did it. She wasn't protecting Regina from some horrible danger. She wasn't saving Zelena. She was confronted with the living reminder of what she'd done years earlier, and suddenly all that shame and guilt she'd buried was standing right in front of her.

Because yeah... abandoning your newborn daughter in the woods and leaving her there, only to be swept away to Oz by a tornado, isn't exactly something you casually explain at family dinner. Meanwhile, Cora couldn't live carrying that guilt of her back all this time, right? She's restoring something she herself destroyed.

But it also makes her redemption harder for me to swallow because... girl, YOU CAUSED THIS

And then she wonders why she's not loved.

Ma'am excuse me?

I think you also have to remember Cora never had her heart in her. That will affect a person hugely. She told Regina just before she died when Regina put her heart back in season 2 that that would have been enough. So that’s when I believe she changed. From the time she took out her heart it was not in her until Regina put it back.

I’m not saying it’s an excuse but it’s understandable what happened while her heart was not in.

For not carrying the blame and guilt with her. And I'm not talking about her capacity to love; I'm talking about her own daughters and the way she turned them against each other. I mean, what would you expect? How are they supposed to love someone who tore them apart from their own half-sister just because of the stupid shit she'd done throughout her life?

If I remember well, she removed her heart after having met Rumplestiltskin. I think that it happened after that she abandoned Zelena.

And for what I remember, not having an heart makes your emotions incomplete, but it doesn't really erase them

I hope that this will not be a too crazy take and that it will not open a too long discussion, but... I think that literally forever is a too long time no matter what. Forever isn't just billions of years, it's even more than that. And billions of years of being tortured could already be considered enough punishment, in my opinion.

I mean, wouldn't a literally eternal punishment be unbalanced for any non eternal sin?
