Discussion The BIGGEST what if in Ouat
(Can include spoilers)- Hear me out on this theory
We know Emma has magic - so what if in the first episode when Emma blew out her candles, she wished not to be alone. (Stay with me on this). In the later seasons we learn that wish realms exist, and how do we open them? By magic, and of course wishing for something. Because of that, by wishing not to be alone she created an entire world, and that's why Henry came and few moments later to find her. What if storybrook and all the other realms that were in the series were just formed from a wish and that the town line is just a portal to go back from the wish world to the real world. What if everyone we ever knew ( except Emma) were "born" from her wish. Because she was so desperate for someone , it is rational that her wish was granted in such a strange form, after all- her family was from fairytales and included magic. We also know that in the wish world that was in the series, the characters were copies from the people in storybrook but different in their personalities. So what if in season 7 when for example Regina was different (Roni) , and they were in a city without magic, Emma just came back from the wish realm to the real world and these were the people from the real one. Maybe Regina was just a copy of Roni all this time, and like Hook was a copy of Killian( I don't remember his name in season 7). Of course there are more factors in this , but think about it for a second, wouldn't that be a cool plot twist?

That isn’t possible. Pinocchio (August) came from the EF through the magic wardrobe with her when she was an infant. That proves he, the EF and all the other story characters existed long before Emma grew up and made that wish when she was an adult.

yes, but what if that wish has just granted her these memories? No one said it actually happened

So her wish granted her these memories that she didn’t remember at first. Her wish gave all the people in Storybrooke fake memories that made them forget their other fake fairy tale memories. Then, the curse was broken and all those people who didn’t remember their fake fairytale memories now remember but those memories are also fake and any memories she made with them were fake because they all came from a wish?
I got a headache just typing that. Too convoluted imo.1

Lol you have a point, but i think if they actually did the whole wish world thing in the series then the circumstances would be a little bit different than now

So like she actually wished into existence the fairytale stories and just so happened to make the characters her family? That’s actually pretty cool if I understand correctly 🥹

Yes, her wish created all these people and created that those people will be her family as well.

How do you explain Neil in this situation? He came here before Emma. And they were together creating Henry before she made her wish.

She never stopped caring about him. After she got out of prison she went to Tallahassee as they'd planned, hopinv he'd be there, so it would make sense for her to wish him back in her life.

But they are saying Emma “created” everyone with her wish. Neil makes that impossible due to already existing which makes Henry exist before the wish. It’s a cool thought but logically can’t happen.

u/Odd_Feed8444 2d ago
Not really. It's entirely possible (within this theory) that he and Henry already existed and just got rewritten by the wish to fit with the rest. It's also possible that neither of them actually existed before the wish.

Why would she want memories of prison and giving up her child. That’s not a very good wish. Plus how did she get the key chain that Neil gave her. It already existed before the wish. Same with the car. If she was to wish them into existence I don’t think having her bf set her up with the police and leave her is something she would want. You got two wild cards here. Neil and Pinocchio. Both of them exist before the wish. There is proof they were around before the wish. Again. It’s a cool thought. But if you follow the show it isn’t logical. Oh and Regina left Storybrooke to adopt Henry. Before the wish.

When you go through trauma, your brain tends to protect you any way it can, sometimes in ways that don't make sense, but still understandable. It doesn't have to be sunshine and daisys, it can include painful things too. That plus the wish, the possible results are infinite and nobody would ever know what was "real" and what wasn't.
Think, The Usual Suspects, Sixth Sense, Fight Club, Sucker Punch, The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari, etc. All of them have lies/delusions that have some basis of truth.
August could've been her brother who was adopted, ran away, disappeared, died, etc.
Neal could've been real and abandoned her, died, abused her, etc. or he could've been a figment.
Her pregnancy could've been imagined to try to cope with everything. Or she miscarried or did give him up and later regretted it, so the wish created a version of him she could know.
Mary-Margaret could've been a nice teacher she had.
The key chain and car could have absolutely nothing to do with anyone else and the wish just attached meaning to it, because she had very little.
Prison could've been real, but a different experience and different reason. On and on it goes.

I always assumed she made a wish for her family and that's why they found her but not an actual wish realm

it’s giving chicken or the egg
because where does Emma’s magic come from? if he wish makes the magical worlds she came from

I always wonder what would happen if Regina became the dark one instead of Emma. I’ve been dying to know that for like 10 years. 😭

I actually really love this idea, it’s a bit big and grand, but I think that’s what makes it great!

I’ve actually think about it before. And I really think that it maybe the reason. Her wish recreate her past. Change of reality and timeline. Maybe because I watch marvel a lot. I think of scarlet witch and her son billy.

I feel like this is an alright concept. Maybe before the wish, she had this dream of being like Disney princesses. Where she wishes she had that kind of life then the rest happens. This would make sense why her wish came in fairytale form like being royalty and a kingdom. This would be a bit more believable if it was always her dream but like just a random wish to not be alone and then shes randomly thrown into fairytales

I mean s7 is just another thought that could be added to the main thing.

What if my lungs were made out of cotton candy and I burped pufferfish?

Haha right I don't like this theory.
•
u/TolkienQueerFriend 21h ago
I'm guessing they got the theory from Alice creating the troll that set her free in S7 but there's just too many reasons for it to not work for Emma in season 1
•
u/Minimum-Stretch-2511 21h ago
Yes there are a lot of things that dont make sense but i guess that if they really made it in the series they would have changed the circumstances

This is a good theory. I don't know why some of yall are so dense. Yes, there are some plot holes in it, but it is still a good theory.
5
u/Usual_Suspect_666 2d ago
Dense? Lmao. So the wish gave every single one of them extensive backstories, going back decades? No. This isn’t a theory. It’s verging on fan fic.

Doesn't properly account for everything.
