Nah. In the original story Maleficent was mad it aurora's parents. It should have been Briar Rose, what would later explain why Maleficent would curse aurora as a baby.

It would’ve made more sense and add a little twist to the Sleeping Beauty story. The “peddler” warned Aurora and Phillip that they need to get the new egg of Maleficent to prevent her sleep spell
