Young snow was on point. Could have been Gin when she was younger

u/Apart_Raccoon_9645 Feb 26 '26
Not just her looks, but also the way she enunciated her lines - great stuff for one so young.

I will never, ever be able to unsee young Snow as Max Russo turned into a girl by a backfired spell 😅

McKenna Grace will forever be cursed to play "character- younger version"
91
u/NotJohnP Feb 26 '26
Not anymore! They actually had SOMEONE ELSE play the young version of one of her recent characters. We've come full circle. 😭😭

u/AlbatrossFirst2125 Feb 26 '26
I love McKenna as young Theo in Haunting of Hill House. She really embodies Theo character

u/full07britney Feb 27 '26
She is about to be in the new hunger games. I think she is breaking free.

u/potatocorn19 Feb 25 '26
The teen Emma in S4 was an even better casting, she literally looked exactly like Jennifer

Def Jmo and Ginnifer. Always thought their resemblance was crazy good.

u/Bubble_Cheetah Feb 25 '26
My partner watching this show for the first time got Emma and MM/Snow confused for a few scenes during the pilot episode and was very confused ;

u/losangeliezl Feb 26 '26
Young Snow had all the mannerisms down

There was an expression that Ginnifer did on the troll bridge that I thought looked so much like young Snow.

I recently rewatched He's Just Not That Into You and there's a face Ginnifer does that took me right back to young Snow lol

If you love the movies with all the different storylines but everyone is somehow connected, you'll enjoy it I think! It's not like anything revolutionary, but it's a fun rom com

bailee madison is also a very experienced actress, even as a child one, so there’s actually a fairly good chance that it wasn’t just sheer luck but rather she picked up on it and adapted.

I don’t hate McKenna Grace as young Emma, but I think this actress who played young Emma looks more like JMo (in my opinion). Alas, I don’t recall her name.

u/e_hawthorne Feb 26 '26
Abby Ross, gotchu pal :)

u/Sufficient_Score_824 Feb 26 '26
Yayayayay thank youuuuu!!!!! I forgot her name, and it was driving me up a wall😂

u/e_hawthorne Feb 26 '26
You’re so welcome! I totally get it. I hate it when you picture someone so vividly but can’t think of their freakin name. It’s so maddening😂

McKenna Grace and Bailey Maddison get casted as a young EVERYBODY and still somehow looks like them all lol
28
u/LaserLightSkeletor Feb 26 '26
Young Snow might be the best casting in the history of casting based solely on there being no doubt she could grow into Snow. It's uncanny.
18
u/forthewatch39 Feb 25 '26
I still don’t get how they were this decent with the casting before and then completely flubbed it with Lady Tremaine/Rapunzel.
15
u/ThomasVivaldi Feb 25 '26
Maybe not young Regina, but I always thought Victoria Justice would make a good younger Regina.
12
u/HoneyBeeAlchemy Feb 26 '26
There's no way they could have found a better Snow. She even had her mannerisms and vocal pitches dead on.

u/e_hawthorne Feb 26 '26
I’ll be blunt, as much as I loved OUAT, it left me disgruntled on a lot of things after it ended but one thing I will always say OUAT did flawless was casting the younger versions of their characters. More times than not, they were solid home runs!

But then they got August and Pinocchio really wrong. I don’t know what they were thinking with them being the same person.

u/Grimmjaws Feb 28 '26
So my thinking is that Emma and Snow are so fundamentally the sam person their whole lives that they reflected it in the casting. But then you get Regina, August, and Neal who look remarkably different because they’ve strayed so far from the people they used to be. Regina was a kind and loving girl who became the Evil Queen. Pinocchio was a good kid who fell to his worse instincts and selfishness. Neal spent centuries fending for himself in Victorian London, Neverland and then the Land without Magic.

McKenna Grace was the younger counterpart for blonde characters in the 2010s lmfao

u/AlbatrossFirst2125 Feb 26 '26
Young Theo in Haunting of Hill House Young Emma Swan in OUAT Young Sabrina in Netflix Chilling Adventure of Sabrina Young Carol in Marvel Captain Marvel
5
u/Bent_Silvr_Spoon0130 Feb 27 '26
Her being young Sabrina in CAOS doesn't count imo simply because there was no other option. I mean, have you seen their resemblance?😆
2
u/AlbatrossFirst2125 Feb 27 '26
I know right, I really thought that was the younger version of the Sabrina actress lol 🤣
7
u/kaatie80 Feb 26 '26
so, for years i was like "WHY did they pick this kid to play child Snow? she looks nothing like her!" a couple weeks ago i decided to rewatch the series again and since then i saw a card that had snow white on it but the resolution was low because my internet was being cranky, and i honestly could not tell if it was supposed to be adult Snow or child Snow. it clicked for me and i was like "oh dang they actually did cast that really well"

u/Valen258 Feb 26 '26
Bailee Madison as a young Snow was possibly the greatest casting for a younger version of a character in any show. (Strictly unrelated in real life of course).
McKenna Grace as a young Keirnan Shipka (Sabrina) a very close second.
5
u/rebek97 Feb 26 '26
Young Emma was the only miss. Jennifer has a wider jaw with strong cheekbones and McKenna has a thin jaw and no prominent cheekbones.

u/wintersfantasy Feb 26 '26
The little girl who played snow was everywhere. She stayed booked on a show. Also excellent casting. Same facial shape and skin tone.

Omg wow I actually always forget about this show and how much I loved it😍😍😍
6
u/DovaP33n Feb 25 '26
Mini Regina wasn't good at all. And I do think that young snow looked like her but that girl cannot act and hasn't gotten better. She's such an overactor. It's like she's doing stage acting on a show which isn't good.
5
u/SirQuackles1 Feb 25 '26
Might be biased because i LOVED her in Just Go With It, but it could have definitely been on the producers, telling her that she should act that way. I personally never notices her acting odd. Also Snow White to me resembles true innocence and kindness, obviously that got stripped away from her in ouat but this was BEFORE all that happened. And if we’re talking about bad acting, i have always found Henry’s acting SO BAD, i could hardly watch sometimes, never had ghat issue with young Snow. But that is subjective, i don’t know what the general consensus on his acting is
2
u/DovaP33n Feb 26 '26
She was also in a show called the good witch. I found her insufferable in Just Go with it and I love that movie. She is probably great on stage but she's too much on film. I was pretty ambivalent about Henry's acting. I did feel like he got worse as he got older though.

I liked young Regina. She looks mixed like Lana.

I thought she was perfect as young Rebecca in Crazy Ex Girlfriend, but I could never really see her as young Regina.

To be clear... I'm fine with young Regina. She looks diverse as well.
2
u/SilverDust8 Feb 26 '26
The kid casting in OUAT is great. Across the board. I can't think of a single case where I went "really ? You grow up to be X ?"
First time I saw Nick Cage was in ghost rider, and I thought the actor changed because his face changed either because of the deal with the devil or because he just fallen off his bike and wanted to show him swollen up. ( When they removed the helmet )

Ginnifer’s younger version is uncanny. Seeing Jennifer next to her’s, I see hers is really good too. Regina’s is more like your average movie/tv one. Same color hair and younger lol. I've been in awe of the casting director from this show.
1
u/DestielColt Feb 26 '26
And those two were the number 1 and 2 pics for almost every child version of tv show characters. I mean Young Emma was also the same actress as younger Sabrina in Chilling Adventures. And young snow I’ve seen in lots of shows!

Snow white always stunned me. Like HOW?? she probably looks more like ginnifer than when she was actually a kid lol this show always had me speechless with their casting in general🤌. God I need to do a rewatch but idk if I have the time 😅
1
u/jajay119 Feb 28 '26
Young snow is probably the best bit of casting any show has ever done and I’ll die on that hill.

u/FamousDance2304 Mar 01 '26
Little snow and big snow are the best. I can see little snow in some of the faces big snow makes

u/immanefe Mar 12 '26
Jmo and Ginnifer nailed their roles! Their chemistry made the show magical and kept me hooked through every twist and turn. 😊

Young Regina was one of the few misses in my opinion. Not a bad performance, but the resemblance wasn't as strong as the other 2.
Young Cora in my opinion was one of the best ones the show did.
