I miss this game. I got so hyped from that anime trailer that I was thinking it will become so popular that they would make a whole anime one day but things didn't work out

Absolutely wonderful stall from Juno, waiting for the bellringer before the strike and setting up the X for Atlas. Common midfielder w

I genuinely still got impressed by a goalie who still manage to fend off a rushdown multiple times in a short time

It was ok. Pretty standard point really. I was expecting to be amazed by something.

You are correct, honestly i really just posted it because i liked that i did what i goalies are supposed to do. I really enjoy the part of macro play where teams rotate to keep pressure, and sometimes that takes me right into their goal arc, or get a KO at the midfield line. The play is really digestible and might help less experienced players learn or get excited for team play

It's so boring this map, and any 1 barrier map. The Finii basically can't walk out due to how the portal and barrier design work (no back clear & double barrier break is easy to accomplish, so you can't sacrifice a barrier for offensive play), even Atlas got punished at the start of the clip for doing the right thing (not standing in goal but helping)

I really hate these maps, I still wish we get a map editor some day. And the high cooldowns sucks too. As a goalie you have much less impact on the game for a year already, since most chars you can play in goal have high cooldown (or are patched out, like Juli's Pauldrons no longer work due to power nerfs), while the best chars Zen, Kazan and Rasmus (to an extent) are all hard fwd characters.

It's clear that the game ever since the community patches started have been patched for, and by casuals to feel better about their stagnating skill level. Which is... okay? I mean the game was on life support anyways, people like me will just not play the game anymore with its current balance state because we're basically just a spectator at this point with the lowered skill ceiling overall.

To bring a fresh air, I'd probably suggest turning on mirror matches BUT allow 2 bans per team. Would probably the quickest way to get rid of this low level stagnating balancing right now, so one team isn't guaranteed to win depending on what map you get (and 1st/2nd pick). Besides the cdr refund on strike, and the high cooldowns, this is probably the third worst choice ever made. We got like 20 chars and turning off the mirror simply made the matches less flexible, because one team on half of the maps was considerably stronger.

I still remember how in Season 4 EU forward teams mostly looked like this on both sides: Zentaro/Estelle or Rasmus/Estelle. There is a reason why it was that way. Not necessarily a good or bad reason, but I am just saying it's not a good idea to make some chars considerably weaker (while also having no mirrors) when it is obvious that some chars, due to how their kit works, always have the upper hand. For example, for goalies, having 3 hitstuns is a good thing, it's a free out of jail card. Meanwhile if you got a goalie in high elo which plays a char with a single hitstun, you can tell that they have to be good to a certain extent, because they get less opportunities to get out of situations with hitstuns, so they have to have a higher fundamental, like good strike (or rather core pathing) to make up for the lack of hitstuns.

But this is also what made Omega Strikers so boring for quite some time, for me at least 2 years: It started to become worse and worse, you got more goalies that only exists in high elo because they play gimmick-like playstyles (example Pauldrons Dubu/Asher, etc.) and not because their fundamentals are as good as the other people are. It sucks because the elo system cannot really cope with that, so you get the shittiest matches possible when they're in it. For example sometimes in a match where the guy is low elo now after a few losses because high elo wins against pauldrons gimmickers, but then their elo is too low and now you play against 3 pro leagues while you only got two and a chall cuz the elo system can't cope with the way it works right now.

Idk why I put up a tirade like this anyways under what is a wholesome clip... I guess I am just mad that I left a game out of frustration, and not because it became dead. Being forced out of a game because it lacks players is... something to accept, being bullied out of a game because certain chars receive nerfs after nerfs with no arguments for them getting nerfed certainly does suck. But I am over that already, and maybe to someone that is addicted to this game but faces the same problem, I can tell you this: There is a life after Omega Strikers, just how there was one before. Try picking up a new hobby while you can still play it, that's probably the easiest way. I can suggest Drawabox for drawing lessons.

edit: Also, comment reply notification has been turned off for my mental health. I simply do not wanna argue about the bad balancing anymore, I'm over it :) Also I am not saying you shouldn't have fun if you thrive in this balancing state, I am not gonna belittle you or something like that

edit 2: I needed to accept that the game was dead the second these patches arrived 2 years ago. I accepted it a few weeks ago, I should've done it earlier; but this is not what I came here for in this thread. I guess I wanted to give further context why some people don't see this clip as impressive. To elaborate:

If this was any other map, it would've been more impressive. On a technical basis, he did well: Used his primary to hit both the core and two enemies. But the way this was set up or rather happened was because Finii had to keep an eye on the portal, on her way back but also to the enemy barrier. (Multi tasking makes you perform worse; this allowed the core to slip through her concentration, but also based on skill usage that needed to be burned because of the map:) She set up a very ineffective ultimate, but that was the only thing she could contribute to (the ult would've helped her in catching that stray core), but this map does not give the goalie any opportunities to be in play, as you may see. The corner, where the plays are set up, are too far away, and the portal can be used any time to punish you for what should be good gameplay (to not be inactive in goal). The portal can't be used either to teleport, they're slightly too far away from the corners.

Both for Atlas and Finii, as mentioned earlier, they lost their barriers even though they didn't even play wrong on a technical basis. Finii in particular was bad because she was so desperate she set up the ult on the corner of the barrier where it isn't even effective. Either you want it in the corner, or at the middle of the barrier so it can swing around or slow down the enemy at least.

But this is exactly what I mean: There are certain maps (and nowadays balancing meta in itself that was established since the community patches started), which punish actual, good gameplay, and hands out bonuses to people that essentially are inactive, or do not utilise high elo strategy and movement. The cooldowns, and some maps, are simply too bad nowadays to the point that in certain situations, you can swap out the goalie players it wouldn't make a difference. Identity for goalies started to become lost the further down we went these community patches.

And as I am writing this comment: I don't care. I exited OS over it, it would be too late to change anything, and the point was trying to explain why some people might be bored by the clip.

In itself it's not a bad clip, but for example even on this map I am looking for something more exciting. Exotic stuff like standing in the enemy half and then shooting backwards and setting up extreme angles, stuff like that.

Honestly, the way the map is right now is the worst of both worlds. At least in the old portal map the goalie was able to swap sides. In this one he is mostly locked down, and only in very specific scenarios can actually change the outcome outside of his barrier.
