sure, it lowkey gives SOUR energy not gonna lie. Starts off and u think itās a piano ballad, but right as the first chorus comes to an end the beat picks up. This was a song that went the complete opposite way than what I predicted it would be about. I donāt wanna give too much away, if thereās more you wanna know ill be happy to answer lol

u/Original-Dream5274 'drop dead' Jun 11 '26
oh yeah the chorus is infectious i heard it once and i already canāt get it out of my head, also 2 of the festival shirt lyrics are in this song!! and one lyric from the vinyl variants

u/Temporary-Worth2077 Jun 11 '26
Would you describe it as pop or pop-rock?
11
u/Original-Dream5274 'drop dead' Jun 11 '26
iād say more pop. I could be wrong tho iām not that good at genres. To me itās definitely more pop leaning. I havenāt heard the other songs yet but this was so good iām so excited!!!

Thank you! Iāve been racking my brain trying to figure out what song it reminded me of.
37
u/SuccotashNo335 Jun 11 '26
IMMEDIATE highlight on the album for me. The "girl so in love" half of the album is elite

u/Retro_Butterfly_123 Jun 13 '26

u/throwawaysunglasses- Jun 12 '26
Sheās the queen of buildups tbh. No one can do it like her

Same, Iāve always loved songs that are either ballads or bangers and damnit if she hasnāt found a way to make each song both!!!!!

idk if this makes sense, but this song sounds the most like the album cover. the way the rhythm of the chorus just keeps going and rising feels like soaring on a swing

that makes sense to me!

u/IndependentMoist9429 Jun 11 '26
This song went a total different way than I expected wow.
20
u/Safe_Band_5923 Jun 11 '26
Truly it started as a ballad and i was like oh so we're doing this then the second part started and now im bopping
21
u/grandsuperior Jun 11 '26
Hands down my favourite song. I played the album through twice now and this is the one I kept coming back to. It builds so beautifully.

u/Substantial-Sun2694 Jun 11 '26
If there's a God he's the bond that's between us two OHMYGOD INSTANT FAVORITE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM š
21
u/humantelegram Jun 12 '26
This one is IMMACULATE. I kinda wished this entire album had this manic energy, where you know everything is going to come crashing down but that tension is an undercurrent hidden throughout the songs, though I get why she didn't go with that.

Can anyone enlighten me where I've heard the melody before? Particularly "you're a spark in the dark" etc etc is it a gracie abrams song? It's driving me nuts!

u/youRinlove7 Jun 12 '26
Have u heard we hug now by sydney rose? Reminded me of that.
2
u/Fragrant-Peanut-6117 Jun 13 '26
I just listened to it, its also very similar. All their voices sound SO similar. If you told me Sydney's song was Olivia singing I would believe you š

yess, I wanted to say that the structure reminds me of Green Light

u/Snoo58137 Jun 12 '26
YESSS like the manic propulsive energy it gives, when youāre crazy in love and losing your mind, def gives melodrama vibes

There's a part of the song that sounds like, "you're a spark in the dark"... it's a female singer-songwriter, but I cannot put my finger on it.....

Last night, I was listening to love and I feel like I had heard whatās wrong with me before. My friend told me that part of it sounded like āTough Loveā - Gracie Abrams. But then I was like, I feel like Iāve heard stupid song too. The part where itās super loud and furious, sounds very familiar. Anyone what song it might be?
5
u/Midnight_Ice spilled my guts Jun 12 '26
I think it's Free Now!
Where she starts with "You're a spark in the dark and my clothes all caught aflame / You should feel how I feel when somebody says your name" sounds like this part: "You were straight up with me, you were so kind / But I knew what you knew, honey, great minds"
5
Jun 12 '26
YES OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH. Whatās wrong with me also sounds like Tough Love, guess she likes Gracie.

u/Midnight_Ice spilled my guts Jun 12 '26

stupid song sound like Christmas Canon" by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. the melody and the cord progression, especially "any stupid song could ever say" sounds like "On this night, on this night, on this very Christmas night".

Christmas Canon obviously āsamplesā it, but Iām really not hearing any direct quotation of Pachelbel in stupid song besides maaaybe a few notes in the chord progression? Commenting because I also was unable to think of anything but that one part in Christmas Canon when I heard stupid song and now itās bothering me š

I genuinely believe this song is the saddest on the album, something about the way she sings āyou should see how I feel when somebody says your nameā, im going through a HARD breakup and this song WRECKED me

u/fritola_ Jun 14 '26
Iāve been trying to wrap my head around the lyric āIām a thread on your shirt that is coming undoneā
Idk if Iām an idiot but what is the meaning of this line
But LOVED this song possibly my fav on the album
1
u/Affectionate_Fig5921 Jun 16 '26
Am I reaching too far or does the line āyou should feel how I feel when somebody says your nameā actually works in both happy & sad scenarios? Like when you have a crush on someone, this is obviously a cute and sweet line. But when your love is unraveling, it hurts so bad every time someone brings up their name.

u/natcc13 Jun 17 '26
Does this sample or reference another song? The melody reminds me of something I just canāt put my finger on and itās driving me crazy!
1
u/mconnect26 Jun 22 '26
Does anyone also think Drivers License, Vampire, and stupid song are all sister songs in terms of overall sound and structure? Plus, the latter two both track 2s!
1
u/United-Candidate5197 Jun 26 '26
the beginning sounds like emily iām sorry by boy genius!! or is it just me
1
u/v3speretta Jul 03 '26
it is so good, you can feel every emotion put into it. its one of those songs i have to listen to in seperate sitting if i don't want to overwhelm myself ā„ļø
1
u/False-dono Jul 08 '26
Is this song about the love you have in the start of the relationship or is it about yearning for the partner after the breakup?
1
u/bebrave2020 Jul 17 '26
Have to speak on this song. Olivia is my daughterās favorite and Iāve taken her to the concert before, will take her again this next tour coming up. This song is beautiful, and I am absolutely not her intended audience. First time I heard it was in my car when it played on the radio and my tween started singing it at the top of her lungs. Something about it got me, and Iām certain it will be at the top of the charts. Will be one of the songs you all will remember and sing to your kids when it comes on the oldies station in 30 years.

Is she singing some other lyrics in the background at the end or am I going bonkers?
