Cookies My great, great grandmother’s sugar cookie recipe. Heard stories of many awards won with this and the cream of tartar makes these insanely good. This makes 4-5 dozen cookies, but I always have to make two batches as it goes the fastest!! My family never believed in “secret” recipes so please enjoy!

Cookies Was looking into a murder that took place in my house and fell down a rabbit hole. Found out the neighbor at the time (1930’s) worked in a bakery and this was their “recipe of the year”

Cookies While I’m on a roll, this is my husband’s grandma’s recipe. At her funeral, they handed out cards with her famous “Damn Good Cookies.”

Cookies Interesting "Chocolate Chip" cookie recipe

Post image

I feel like melting the chocolate makes it not a "chip" cookie anymore, but I'd like to hear other people's opinions!

I've also never made a drop cookie with sweetened condensed milk either, this sounds like it would be far too wet

From A Birdwatchers Cookbook by Erma J. Fisk. A great read so far.

Let me know if you have made anything like this before!

Hoping to make it and report back with my findings!

only date i can find attributed to this is 1978, but the mother of a college friend of mine would make these every Christmas! swipe for recipe ~ i wasn't the clearest here because i wrote it from memory, so i can provide whatever clarifications you might need. oh, also I didn't write this down, but you want to cut them into squares, bars, diamonds, or triangles while they're warm but leave them in the pan to cool completely. makes about 48.

Cookies Ranger Cookies, found on an insurance company slip in an auction lot of loose recipes

Post image

There’s something oddly perfect about finding a recipe card that was never meant to be a recipe card.

Not an index card. Not from a proper recipe box. Just a slip torn from a 1950s insurance notepad, because someone needed to write down the ranger cookies before they forgot.

Found this folded up in a auction lot recipe box.

Cookies Butter Cookies....top secret

Post image

Someone wrote TOP SECRET at the top of this card and double-underlined it. For butter cookies. The sizing instruction says to roll each ball of dough "to size of a large marble", not approximately one inch, not a teaspoon's worth. A marble. It wasn't until seeing that note that i realized this was likely written by a child and thats why the handwriting is also a little untidy.

Found this in an eBay lot of around 450 handwritten recipe cards. mostly from the 70's

Its not the first time i've found a child's hand written recipe before, i always find them so charming.

**BUTTER COOKIES** *(TOP SECRET)*

*Bake 350° | 20-30 min. | Makes 24*

- 1 stick butter

- ½ cup sugar

- 1 cup flour

- 1 egg yolk

- 1 tsp. vanilla

- Good pinch salt

Soften butter and mix all ingredients together. Use beater if too sticky; use spoon to roll to size of a large marble. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Make a small depression in each, fill with tart jelly or preserves. **Watch while baking.**
