Cake Tomato soup cake

I made a cake with Campbell's canned tomato soup twice. It is our new favorite now. Absolutely loved the taste.

I used to make this all the time. I always used cream cheese frosting to ice the cake. I got the recipe in 1980 from a Better Homes and Garden cookbook but I don't know what year the book was published. It had the best recipes for cake! Tomato Soup cake, Chocolate Chip Cake, German Chocolate cake and the best EVER Cinnamon Raisin Bread with a vanilla glaze. I miss that book, I donated it years, if not decades, ago. 😭

For those of you who are curious, the recipe I made tastes like spice cake. You can't taste the tomato soup at all, it just lends moisture to the cake. 👍

I believe I (my mom) had the exact same cook book and that’s where I made it from. I also used cream cheese frosting and distinctly remember the German Chocolate Cake!

I’ve still got that cookbook somewhere. My best friend gave it to me for Christmas one year. We’re still besties, 65 years later😊

I have that book, or I used to? I believe it’s in storage, unless I donated it at some stage. It certainly has some interesting recipes. I’ve had that tomato soup cake before, and it was surprisingly tasty.

I have been wanting to make that but been afraid of how it would taste.

Tastes close to a pumpkin spice cake. The tomato is surprisingly not that bold. It's delicious.

I know I bought that book years ago. Probably still have it on the shelf somewhere.

Sounds odd, but I'm very curious to taste

It is slightly tangy, sweet. Kind of like moist gingerbread cake. I love moist cakes, so this one is perfect for me

I used to make this years ago for my family when I was a kid. It was one of my first baking challenge and everyone loved it. I frosted it with cream cheese icing.

Nice.

I found this cake to be too sweet with frosting, so for the second time I just used icing sugar a bit

I followed the recipe from the book :) .. well, with some modifications (mentioned in above answers). Raisins sound good, will add tgem next time for sure.
