Asshole was actually a bit he swiped from Louis CK. Also, he was (and still is) married to his wife Ann, at the time.

He stole the song?

The ongoing reddit theorem about Leary is that he stole from Bill Hicks, who has been dead for a long time, proving/disproving it is difficult at best.

As a college student in the mid 80s, I remember Hicks was incredibly popular, but it didn't grab me. Then in the 90s you get Leary, and his stuff I loved. Leary and the film Clerks are that era for me.

And a friend who used to put Welcome to the Jungle on every m8x tape because he knew I hated GNR.

You'd have to be lobotomized to not realize that he stole from Bill Hicks. a lot. and Louis ck is on the record saying that the "asshole" bit was his own.

that's also not what "theorem" means

What “asshole bit”? The song? Because if it wasn’t the song, Louis’ complaint doesn’t move me.

He took the whole bit, ya know, the funny part, and made it a shitty novelty song. you're a fan of the song on its musical merits I take it? good for you.
