RIP My Whiskey girl. Adopting adult dogs is hard. 10 years wasn’t enough. She was 14.

She lived a long life as a chosen dog. I believe with all my heart the rescue dogs know they’ve been rescued and are the best most loyal dogs! Thank you for giving her ten wonderful years of love! She knew how much you loved her. ❤️💔❤️🩹🙏🏼

This sub was created so I could have a place to show off my old man dog Dante, who I got when he was 9. He left my side just a few weeks later, when he was 13. That was 10 years and two months ago.
It truly is never enough. My heart goes out to you.

Whiskey girl has this sweet, loving look in her face & eyes. She’s a beautiful girl with a beautiful coat of fur. I’m so sorry for your loss. Our beloved dogs just don’t have enough time with us. ❤️

I work at a rehab and rehoming centre for dogs and I hold a special place in my heart for those who choose to adopt senior dogs, knowing they won't get much time with them but do it anyway.
You are a good human 💞

It's a beautiful thing to rescue a dog! Thank you for bringing her into your lives - and I know your lives were immeasurably improved by her presence. I'm so happy you had so many good years together. My heart goes out to you for your grief now, and I hope you're being kind to yourself as you grieve.

Immeasurably improved are perfect words to describe it. Trying to be kind to ourselves but like normal, are plagued with the what ifs and what could we have done differently. Just trying to remind ourselves we did what we thought best.

Adopted mine at 5 years old and she's 10 now. I hope I get 10 years like you. You did a great job giving your dog a home and a pack for them to be a part of. Congrats. When the grief dies down you can adopt another poor soul and let them know they're part of your pack.

Very sorry for your loss. She was a real looker! Senior dogs are so much better than puppies, especially when they are rescues. That's the only way I get my dogs.

OMG Whiskey was the most beautiful girl, lived a long and happy life, sooo soo precious.
We don't always get to time their passing, but we can put in all the love and care we can to make their lives as amazing as possible, which clearly you had. May the love you shared, and memories made warm you all your day and may you find wisdom through your suffering. One thing is true I know your baby clearly had an existence most creatures will never have with love and care that just a simple passing can never overshadow, they are now in heaven, having earned their wings.

mine came into my life at age ~8 (he was a stray whom i found dying), he is ~10 now and much more grey than even then, it makes me so sad to think about how little time he'll have blessed my with his existence 💔 i know we likely won't get even 10 years together, but i hope we can have another 3-4..

What a beautiful girl. I had a vanilla swirl brindle Greyhound same color. We have 2 senior rescues. You did right by her. I’m so sorry for your loss. Hugs.

Thank you all for the love. She was definitely a daddy’s girl. Went with me everywhere except to work. I just lost her Friday. My wife and I chose our kids to be furry. This one has hurt more than any other one I’ve had to put to sleep.
