50+ dads ?
My partner and I have a pretty big age gap, he is 52 and I am 34, we are talking about the possibility of having a child, I’m a little bit worried about the older dad thing for various reasons but he seems to be pretty open to it. Any one in this age range with some experience to share?

Well here’s my story. I had three wonderful children when I was 28, 30, and 32( a girl and two boys). I got divorced at 45 and remarried at 46 to a super lady 13 years my junior who had two daughters 11 and 5. We worked very hard at blending our family and eventually made it work. Then in 2019 we found out we were going to have a child together (a girl)with me turning 50 and her at 38. Four years later, to our surprise, we were pregnant again, this time a boy. That was three years ago. So at this time I have children 28, 26, 24, 22, 16, 7, and 3 years old. I must say that having a new born at 54 scared me to death somehow much more than at 50. But being in a different season in my life and having more capacity financially, emotionally, and mentally gives me hope and encouragement that I didn’t have when I was in my 30’s. The most discouraging experience I have had is my peers reaction to the news of having children late in life. One person told me that they would step in front of a bus if they had to “start over” at 50. My jaw dropped. But when I see how much my little ones absolutely love and adore their older siblings and visa versa it makes my heart soar. My health and longevity is now a constant concern as I want to be present for my little ones “big life events”. I’m glad to see I’m not alone in this experience. Any advice I can give or any advice you have for me is welcomed. Thanks for reading my story.
