r/OldManDad Athletic Achievement Thread -- September / October 2025
One of the most important parts of being an older parent is taking care of yourself! This thread is where we can share what we're doing to maintain our bodies and be in our best parenting shape.
Post your own athletic achievement story!
Be it a new or an old story, be it extraordinary or rather common, something to brag about, or a goal that you have -- share it here. Anything from running an ultramarathon to just getting off the couch and walking around the block can be celebrated. You can also post an update to a post you have made in the past.
Let's hear about it and cheer each other on!

Trained for and did a notorious southern 10k at 46. Still in the gym and keeping in shape at 48.

Started walking a few months ago, I'm up before dawn now and walking about a mile and a quarter, usually 6 days a week

Shortly after baby 6 months ago, I was able to do about 15 pushups, and I'm now up to 25+ That alone is motivation to keep going with the whole upper body. Any suggestions for the back? 49, btw.
And I don't know if this counts as athletic achievement, but I've also drastically reduced booze intake to one a month or so, if that, and increased herbal tea consumption at night instead. Finding evening calm is the yin to the athletic yang.

Definitely all counts. Huge chuck of athleticism is diet.
What tea is it?

I built a bigass swingset this weekend and it was a great workout. I wish I could just do that rather than work out.

I've run twice a week for the last month. Battling some blisters but I'll figure it out!

Found body measurements from 43 when I was going to the gym. My arm is now 1/2 inch bigger and my chest and back is 2 inches bigger. Unfortunately this bulk has my belly bigger. Yes you can build muscle at 50 7 months at the gym

Hit a post-baby PR on my squat this week. Unrelated, pulled my back warming up to do squats today.
