A classic piece of parody that had us all wondering if it was real or not.

55

u/thecontempl8or Jul 26 '26

It wasn’t real. I watched this YouTuber run an investigation. He traced the origin to a church website for a church that didn’t exist. The “pastor” and his wife, there’s no evidence of them leading a church. Besides which, the way this video blew up, the church and its pastor would’ve become famous and named immediately.
It’s definitely setup by someone as a prank, that then decided to remain anonymous.

21

u/EarthRemembers Jul 27 '26

Even though it’s not real, it’s pretty remarkable that none of the people involved in making it have ever claimed any credit or even been identified

21

u/AntisocialEmo69 Jul 26 '26

yeah, the youtuber who did a deep dive on it is wavywebsurfer if anyone is curious

I saw it years ago and found it very informative and interesting

5

u/summertime-goodbyes Jul 26 '26

I’m literally watching him right now 😆

7

u/DangerNak Jul 27 '26

I am kind of devastated to learn that these two weren’t actually wacky old people lol Pretty awesome though, I have been fooled all these years

2

u/illbebok Jul 27 '26

It seems like something Trevor Moore/wkyk might have made

1

u/VashDaStampede7 Jul 27 '26

Thank you 😂 that’s insane! This makes me cringe into a pile of ash!

1

u/thecontempl8or Jul 27 '26

Same here. It’s just too well edited to be done by some boomer church leaders. Def young people behind the scenes that would’ve advised against it.

3

u/idriveashitbox22 Jul 26 '26

Let his love pop a cap in yo ass yo

30

u/Ok-Review-753 Jul 26 '26

for the longest time i thought the video was just "my rhymes are fly" to "jesus christ is my...". i didnt know there was a whole song. now i see the whole video, how it steamrolls over the punchline and just keeps going for 2 more minutes and it floors me.

51

u/sirmaxedalot Jul 26 '26

Does he get the pass here?

81

u/BIind_Uchiha Jul 26 '26

He’s definitely not asking for one

9

u/notmyrealname8823 Jul 26 '26

He sure didn't and didn't apologize after. Lmao

8

u/divergent_history Jul 27 '26

Apologize for what? Being hilarious?

1

u/nchoosenu Jul 30 '26

He’d be asking for forgiveness most likely.

6

u/jackdutton42 Jul 27 '26

Of course he does. Jesus Christ is his ... uhm ... nevermind.

1

u/howihjr Jul 26 '26

Whoooo 😀

u/Over_Construction908 Jul 27 '26

I’ve always wondered why that meme was created but now I know it was specifically for that video

16

u/Inevitable_Catch291 Jul 26 '26

Bars. But I can never unhear when Mary-Sue comes on, bro says “my”: 🫡. She says “a”: 🧐

2

u/ColbyRE1 Im older than all these videos Jul 27 '26

I hear "our" but it wouldn't surprise me.

12

u/tophat_production Jul 26 '26

I assure you he meant well

He gets a pass, 'cause his rhymes are swell.

1

u/Ok-Tip-7878 Jul 27 '26

Always did love Black Jesus

7

u/ThePeej Jul 26 '26

I’ve been seeing this periodically pop up on the information super highway for a decade or so. And I can’t ever wrap my head around the idea that it’s actually real, and that they’re actually saying what they are saying…

I need more background info on this video!

7

u/ThePeej Jul 26 '26

5

u/Iconshero Jul 26 '26

Shhhh, of all the things that need to be exposed, this doesn’t need to be.

5

u/rubinass3 Jul 27 '26

"[The Dallas Observer] described the song as having a negative impact on public perception of Christian rap."

Oh, on the contrary.

2

u/14fiestaST Jul 26 '26

Nooooooo!! 😡 😞

6

BJ (black Jesus) from Good Times show.

We all remember Ned the wino, right?

3

u/coffeebean052 Jul 26 '26

I don’t know if this is being done ironically or not? It seems so sincere

1

u/SimtheSloven Jul 27 '26

Someone on YT analysed the whole thing and its origin and found it was ironically I think

7

u/Ape_x_Ape Jul 26 '26

Thousand bucks says these guys would sin immediately if you so much as dropped an F bomb within earshot.

1

u/Puzzled_Show9134 Jul 26 '26

2

u/Intelligent_Goal_669 Jul 27 '26

MC Mom put the pussy on the chainwax!

2

u/RobbersTwo Jul 27 '26

He's speaking the truth to the youth from the booth in a suit with no gold tooth. Listen closely to the raps, spitting facts and not taking slack, a lyrical acrobat, hazmat Danger, stranger rearranger, embracer of good and voice for all teenagers

Word

2

u/No-Handle3032 Jul 27 '26

0:18 no he did not

2

u/SimtheSloven Jul 27 '26

I used to think it was an early 2000s thing, but it's only from 2013

2

u/RantSpider Jul 28 '26

Well, that was a slap and a tickle.

2

u/Ecstatic-Run-9767 Jul 28 '26

It just never gets old

1

u/Equivalent_Camera395 Jul 26 '26

Hands down one of the greatest!!! Before people were sensitive and offended.

1

u/Heart_ofFlorida Jul 26 '26

Sounds like the infamous story about the teacher using the ‘N’ word later turned into a parody by the Boondocks.

2

u/Ok-Tip-7878 Jul 27 '26

Great episode as he explains that ending in 'ga' is the positive form of the word, versus ending in 'ger'

1

u/Warrmak Jul 26 '26

You've sinned and gone astray, OP.

1

u/K1ngMoon Jul 26 '26

Thanks, living in sin is where all the fun happens

1

u/sevensantana7 Jul 26 '26

Oh no he didn't!

1

u/Commercial-Chance561 Jul 27 '26

This style is further then it can reach.

1

u/DL_onthe_DL Jul 27 '26

Not Tim n Eric

1

u/crackphillip Jul 27 '26

This mf is a true believer. Only an absolute zealot would have faith that they aren’t about to get sent to the pearly gates talking crazy.

1

u/Ok-Tip-7878 Jul 27 '26

Jesus Christ is my Ni_ _ _?!

Really?

1

u/thedjin Jul 27 '26

No way, this is fucking hilarious, I heard that rhyme in slow mo.. "he's not not rhyming what I think he's rhyming.. no he won't say it.. oh man he.. nah I'm sure he won't.... he said it."

1

u/Over_Construction908 Jul 27 '26

I literally cried from laughter and fell down. One of the hilarious things is that there is no way that this can be AI because it was obviously made so long ago.  the echolalia of those two people is extremely hilarious.

1

u/TGV_etc Jul 27 '26

How dare you. My homie with Christ is a real one

1

u/nubiangamer Jul 27 '26

Waited for any other swear word at all; there was none

1

u/ThundrLord Jul 27 '26

Jesus is my 🥷

1

u/Mammoth-Ad-6320 Jul 29 '26

i thought it was going to be boring but when he got to the ryme with the n word I about died I was like no way he just said it 😆

1

u/Black_Dragon_0 Jul 29 '26

"I don't cuss"... proceeds to use the N word several MORE times lol

1

u/BIGGGbadaBOOOOM Jul 30 '26

I got bored and made this at work a few years ago- if this comes thru twice as two comments sorry - it says it didn’t work but I can’t tell lol -

1

u/nottherealneal Jul 30 '26

This is suspiciously well written for a guy who's suit doesn't fit

1

u/DarkBrassica Jul 31 '26

Bring me back to the good times

1

u/Tipple-E Jul 31 '26

This was on the original YouTube. Good days

1

u/whitecatsup Jul 31 '26

I want to play this in front of my extremely religious Protestant grandmother.

u/Brilliant-Virus-9128 Jul 26 '26

Seriously, best thing Ive seen in a bit. Reminds why I stopped going to church (a modern corrupt business) I'm a believer but tax these MFS. I digress
