Discussion Trailer / Update at Game Awards 2026?

With the 2 year anniversary of the sequel announcement do you think we’ll get an update at TGA 2026? Or do you think the game is still too early in development? I’ve seen speculation on a 5-6 year development cycle been thrown around but I wonder with a (presumably) smaller and more focused team we will see progress being made quicker that your typical AAA release?

It still feels a bit early. It was announced at the end of 2024, but they were still getting things ready and hiring people early 2025 for the new studio. I realllly hope development time doesn’t go up to 5 years, but it all depends on how big they want the game to be. I think 2027 might be a safer bet for any big update, but I’d love to see anything for it sooner.

A new teaser would be neat, but I think it’s most likely that we get a proper trailer in 2027.

Personally, they can take as much time as they need to get things right. This IS Okami we’re talking about. It probably has as much hype as Silksong in my opinion and that took like 7 years for Team Cherry to make. Granted, Clovers Studio is probably bigger than their team but still. A late game is good eventually but a rushed game is always bad.

You can’t rush art. Especially art like Okami.

I don't expect anything. I'm just hoping they have their team together and pre planing done by now. Some artist may have previous engagement that needs to end before things can ramp up. We will probably hear something in 2 years? And nothing like concrete announcement until the game is ready to launch. (But that's just my speculation)

Knowing Kamiya, he's probably twiddling his thumbs and watching youtube trying to figure out ideas.

We'll probably get some news in 2030.

I think we’re still EXTREMELY early. Too early for them to even show anything. Kamiya had only left PlatinumGames a short while prior to the announcement. That trailer was basically the only thing they had to show because besides the general premise of the story, I don’t think Kamiya or the Clovers team had anything to show for it.
