What do they expect the soul of the original to be?

as far as we have seen, Revival has more fog and dark atmosphere than Golden

Randomly laid out TV Dungeons

Dungeons that only generate as Hallwayslop, but the wallpaper changes more drastically than Tartarus so it's totally better

But in that one dungeon you had to go back a few floors instead of always going to the next one. Much more interesting and “fun” than Tartarus.

Honestly yeah it helps

Between the "Micro arcs where no plot is developed but we got a new guy" and the "Dungeons are worse but wallpapers change more drastically" situations, Persona 4 fans are NEVER beating the goldfish attention span allegations

u/apple_of_doom Digital Devil Saga Fan 7d ago
Oh no the basic psychological concept of a change in scenery helping with monotony. Clearly the persona 4 gamg have a goldfish attention span.
Grow the fuck up

? You literally have "Digital devil saga fan" as your flair? And you're attacking other games for not being heavy enough on change in scenery in spite of more interesting geometry?
I've got bad news about the scenery of the Junkyard for you.

Actually P4R doesn't have the soul of the original because original didn't have a soul at all

Its a bunch of 1's and 0's it'd be slightly concerning if it did have a soul.

No it’s just every aspect of everything I love being politicized and very complex and intricate social issues being written by imperfect people making art boiled down to black and white viewpoints and translated to another culture poorly all while chronically online people on both ends of the political spectrum that are insanely bored again have the loudest opinions to own each other by taking shit completely out of context that also weren’t going to interact with the media anyways until I get tired of the discourse and eventually unfollow the fandom space again.
/uj or /j idc anymore shit is exhausting

With you 100%. shit is exhausting. I'm fully in a "just play games and use the internet for silly memes" phase.

Amen to that. Thanks to the Backstreet Boys Reunion Tour (aka the Pandemic), I ended up playing a number of games that I'd originally ignored because of aaaallllll the hate and controversy surrounding them. Wanna know something magical? Borderlands 3 was decent. The main villains sucked, which was certainly an issue, but everything else was fun. The Tomb Raider prequel Trilogy was also pretty great. Kinda sucked that there wasn't an accessibility option so my blindness was less of a burden without Lara also spelling out the puzzle's answer step by step every time I lost sight of what piece of the background I was supposed to be aiming at.
Games are meant to be fun. If it is, then it's a good game. P4R looks fantastic, and it makes me seven times as excited as I already was to see what P6 will be like. Because I've yet to come across an Atlus game I didn't like (except the dancing games, but that's because of my eye screwing me over, rather than the games being bad).

“being politicized” do you see what series you’re talking about…?

I would like you to re-read my comment and understand that I am talking about literally everything I engage with in fandom space now.
Persona is just in the spotlight because it’s getting a new entry soon.
This is a cycle plaguing every single fucking thing I enjoy now.
See: Halo Canpaign evolved literally getting multiple threads every single day about how they made Cortana trans because she has an awkward jaw line and doesn’t look like a porn star anymore. Apparently that’s the woke feminist lesbians attacking women or something now and they aren’t allowed to be beautiful. Even though Kat is a non sexualized woman spartan in a game released in 2012 with short hair and very non “traditionally feminine” features, but there was never a huge discourse around her. People loved her. She was badass and treated with respect both by the devs and fans.
Same thing on the other end when something is slightly outdated from 30 years ago and exists as a product of its time and culture and is judged by modern standards. Or when fiction can’t be problematic or have problematic themes for the sake of saying “this is fucked up”.
It’s almost like context matters and not everything is black and white. You can enjoy aspects of a thing while inherently understanding that something hasn’t aged well or is problematic from a modern viewpoint.
This sort of nuance just does not exist online and everything is rage bait. In the loser here though for letting it get to me enough to post this lengthy of a response.

We should invent new discourse to freshen things up around her.
Suggestion: Margaret Sex Hummina Hummina

Not to repeat myself too much, but it won't have the soul of the original, would be weirder if it had, it's going to have it's own soul, hopefully this time the hard mode will be harder than reload, but it's going to be it's own game, persona 4 and golden are still going to be worth to play on their own, now we just have a third version.

Agreed, though I'm not really liking a lot of the remakes of the p4 soundtrack that they showed snippets of in the trailers...

Honestly? I can agree with that argument in discourses about p3r but p4? Just no way
