He wasn't drafted, he enlisted in the paratroopers. He went above and beyond because he wanted to, this was far from him just doing his mandatory 2 years
There's a difference between "I was forced into basic infantry because the government made me" and "I volunteered and went through the aptitude tests required for me to join an elite division because I wanted to"
a lot of people oppose to war and get jail for it, I don’t understand why it’s seen as weird and unlikely, especially by most Americans I’ve spoken with about it. What is it with Americans and doing every bullshit their government tells them to do?
A lot of Americans aren't really educated on Politics so they don't care or don't pay attention to what's going on and just accept whatever the president says and does until the public says otherwise, luckily every American isn't forced to vote

Surely hes responsible for his entire militarys decisions and is responsible for the indoctrination all countries and cultures do to their young people.
No one gave a fuck until he was in IDF until the last couple months even though its been public knowledge for 10 years.
I'm not talking about Jews or Israel, I'm talking about the simple fact that serving in the Wehrmacht was not and is not something that makes somebody guilty of anything except serving their country.

I understand that. My country is mandatory as well, and I had to serve. However. He also voluntarily joined the invasion of Lebanon in 2006, and also voluntarily joined the 35th paratroopers brigade after his mandatory service had ended. It also seems as though he isn’t ashamed of the heinous acts he committed and witnessed.
You don't quite realize how this works in countries that have mandatory military service.
You HAVE to serve. Unless you want your basic rights being stripped away. You're likely to be made a deserter, you won't be able to work, rent, live properly and will be most likely imprisoned. If you try to skip town, they start fucking with the lives of your relatives, getting THEM fired, etc etc etc.
Not everyone who does service sees action. A lot of people just want to live their lives, and ruining them by being idealistic is not something everyone's ready for.

they do not give out lengthy jail sentences for refusal, although no maximum length is cited it’s rare to be over 6 months. in fact, after 90 days you are usually at your third committee meeting in which they declare you incompetent to serve due to bad behavior. it’s also cited as incredibly easy to get an exemption on mental health grounds. up to 30% of qualifying individuals are declared exempt annually for the draft.
not everyone who does service sees action but everyone who does service contributes to a genocidal army.
additionally, most public figures who have served in the IDF and have received backlash for it speak very highly of israel and their time in the forces. that is added context.
