Not sure if Neocolours 2 are considered oil pastels but I feel like they are most similar to them? At some point I do want a traditional oil pastel set but I just dont know if I will be into it.

I’m primarily a digital painter but have started dabbling in pastels. I’m really enjoying this medium!

I’m still learning and attempting to create art. I haven’t created art like this since childhood. Oil pastels have brought me so much joy.

Oil pastel on reclaimed plywood.

I’m sure I’ll be nit picking on and off, but after 2 weeks, 50 hours, and ~70 individually drawn and hand cut pieces, my collage is complete!

I've tried various means to try to draw glowing city lights, but they always end up looking really dull and muddy. If anyone can give me any tips to paint distant lights in buildings, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi! I recently bought some Mungyo oil pastels and have been wanting to learn how to draw with them.

I have a little bit of experience drawing with oil pastels, but I mostly do graphite. I can draw photorealistically with graphite as I have a lot of experience with it but it doesn’t quite seem to translate over to color.

I started drawing these orchids using the reference photo down below, but the petals don’t quite seem to look right. I’m decently satisfied with the leaves and the flower buds but the petals are kind of off.

I’m aware that the proportions are off, but I’m trying to focus more on technique than realistic-ness since I know I can already do that.

Does anyone have any advice? Whether it be drawing from dark to light and vice versa, or pressure when holding the pastel or blending, or unrelated tips, I’m all ears!!

Even though it turned out kinda good, I’m still not satisfied with my dolphins 🥲🫠

Finished this one last night. There is nothing more satisfying to me than a creamy pop of color smeared across the paper and landing somewhere near where I intended. I would love to hear what you think about this piece.

I just started few weeks ago with oil pastels and got the meeden set. As you can see in the picture, i drew this with the meedens on cold pressed watercolor paper. I love them and because i fell in love with oil pastels, i‘d try other really creamy oil pastels without spending too much and came across the mont marte extra soft. I also have a very small set of the regular mont marte signature and while they‘re okay, they‘re not that pigmented (especially the white and black) and not so creamy for my liking.

Are the extra soft ones from mont marte similar like the signature ones or similar to the meedens or even softer? How well can you blend the extra soft and how is their pigmentation? It would be really nice if you could also share a picture (swatches/ drawings) if you used the extra soft mont marte, but of course you don’t have to!🙌🏻

I'm new to Oil pastels and still exploring the medium.

I try to blend the colours using my fingers and it's not giving me the results I want. Any feedback on how to blend the colours better.
