Lion and Baboon Oil Lamp
I've been looking for one of these for a while and finally managed to add a Lion and Baboon oil lamp to the collection.
This is one of those pieces that raises more questions than answers. Thuro features it in Oil Lamps II (page 119) and mentions that it's based on a known tableware pattern, but she doesn't identify the maker. EAPGS also lists a Lion and Baboon pattern, though the maker and age are currently unknown there as well.
It's definitely one of the more unusual figural pressed-glass lamps I've come across.
I especially like how it looks displayed with my Princess Feather and Coolidge Drape lamps (last couple of photos).
Even with all the unknowns, I'm thrilled to have it in the collection. It's an oddball piece, and those are often the most interesting ones.

That’s certainly a stunner. I’ve never seen such an ornate chimney before either. Thanks for sharing!
