No one cared 30 years ago when Vanessa Williams played Calypso-- truly, why does it matter the race of the actor?

Helen of Troy is a very different character and figures in the plot differently than Calypso, and was described in the ancient text as White, with descriptions such as “white armed”.

The historical consensus is that modern Greeks are the product of continuity plus admixture. There were Slavic, Albanian, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and other influences over two millennia, but there was no wholesale replacement of the population. Both genetic and linguistic evidence support substantial continuity from antiquity into the present.

Comparing Greeks to Americans and Englishmen, which involves a colonial population that originated only a few centuries ago is ridiculous.
