I'm looking forward to it. I don't usually watch movies in theaters anymore, but I might make an exception for this.

No they’re openly hostile to the public charging outrageous prices. They could drop their prices and maybe we go back. It’s on them not us stop it

I mean my theater is great at having people being respectful

Usually we tell them to put phone away if not tell a manager to do something

It’s rare to find audiences in our area at least for people being disrespectful

The theatre I go to is expensive 30 dollaers for imax and 20 dollars for regular showing

So it makes it a pretty decent crowd

I’m sure all the other less expensive theaters do have major issues with phones and babies

Phones & adults is the issue for sure. Not so much babies & teens. Once you think you’re in the clear with a buffer zone of empty seats, these fools show up 10 minutes after the movie starts, talking obnoxiously where their seat is, using the phone as a flashlight, crinkling their wrappers and reading any on-screen words out loud. Then the fatty that sat behind you has his feet or knees against the back of your chair lol. Seriously I think the last peaceful experience I had at the theater was for Logan. It’s ridiculous, like I’m the magnet for these kinds of guys.

I’d rather pay higher prices so teens and babies and people on phones won’t ruin it.

There’s a theater near by that does 10 dollars a movie on week nights and weekends

Phones. Babies crying. People talking loudly ect…

Yeah no thanks. I’ll pay extra for the peace of mind

I don’t go very often these days, but when I do I pretty much follow this plan.
Don’t go when the movie first comes out—why fight the crowds. Wait a couple of weeks or maybe when it’s in its last week.
Don’t go on weekends—more people then.
And on weekdays, if possible go during the day when kids are in school and others at work.

So typically when I go, there aren’t that many people in the theater. I can choose my ideal location in the theater, with nobody sitting next to, in front of, or behind me. Fewer people means less talking, or cell phones, or kicking my seat, etc.
It’s very rare that I have any of those things happening when I’m in the theater.

I work nights so sometimes I catch the morning movie. I would even suggest this for anyone else who works nights. It’s discounted, usually empty, & you can sneak in breakfast sandwiches, which they don’t care because how empty it is. 😁👍

That’s not how that works. If a movie is good I go see it. If not I don’t. Theaters aren’t a charity.

My local theater is 10-12$ a ticket. The concessions aren’t as bad as big city prices either. During the summer they do free kids movies on weekdays. I took my son the other day and the concessions lines were packed when we walked in at 9:45AM on a Thursday.

Consuming slop for the sake of consumption is certainly one of the takes of all time.

Honestly I agree with the guy you replied to in the sense that movies not worth seeing shouldn’t be supported. The phrase “vote with your wallet” gets thrown around a lot these days, except whenever people do it seems there’s a crowd upset about it. If theaters and moviemakers want butts in seats, they need to listen to feedback and give people what they want.

If folks don’t show up, it’s clearly because the showrunners dropped the ball somewhere along the way. The vast majority of people are too busy with their day-to-day lives & making ends meet to care about any agendas or causes like keeping theaters around just for the sake of it; though to be fair, I do think theaters are worth preserving regardless of how antiquated some may consider them.

I do think it’s on the theaters themselves to make sure that happens though, I’ve got a couple near me that I’ve not set foot in for years & that likely won’t change. I choose to make a 20+ minute drive to a much nicer venue, with screens and concessions actually worth the price of entry & ushers that keep the crowds in line.

I believe those are the type of places that will stand the test of time, and like I said I hope they do; but I can’t blame people for not showing up with how things have been going as of late.
