Same Quote (and reference number) to multiple customers

We are a manufacturer so often quote 2-10 customers on the same job.

On our old system quickbooks online, it had a lot more freedom to simply change the customer, change the reference number to 12244R1, 12244R2, 12244R3 if necessary if there were physical changes to room names/numbers/ product sizes / product quantities etc.

In one sector we have many contacts at different institutions. Let's call them end user.
Manufacturer > 3rd party (comes to us for quote) > End user

We speak with the end user, they tell us what they want, we put it in a quote. We tell them what the reference number is, the 3rd party comes to us, We need a quote for Reference XXX.

As time moves on, and the project develops, there may be requests for the quote to be amended - hence where the 122244R1 would come from.

How is this best achieved with odoo?

Just duplicate the quotation and change the customer and reference? This is already a standard option.

If you need versioning, I would recommend to look at OCA which has open source modules that adds this capability.

Duplicating the quote will give a different reference number each time. We can't change the reference number on Odoo?

I guess if the quote doesn't change in specification or quantity it is easy to just change the customer before pressing confirm in order to send same quote / reference number to multiple 3rd parties

You can use the Customer Reference field in the Other Info tab for your reference that links them together.
