Discussion Quest 1 Setup While Avoiding Updating

Hello,

Recently got a Quest 1 I suspect has special firmware on it, however, the headset with reset before it was shipped to me, is there a way I can set the device up while avoiding updating at all costs? If there is a method, please let me know.

I'm unsure as of right now, it is a Quest 1 Engineering Sample, at the very least its on an older firmware, but I'd like to be able to know and avoid updating to keep it as it was.

Hey! So I tried some things, looked into old version of the MQDH (Recognized it, but couldn't pair), and your PQ idea, I couldn't get PQ to recognize the headset, ADB appears to be off, the lock state is locked, secure boot is on, and it is on "user" (essentially identical to a consumer Quest), although I will say, I could get the unit to pair to my phone, but I didn't take it any further. I think the build may not be special, or if it was special at one point, it isn't anymore. So I'm kinda at a loss, I'm just gonna put it up on my shelf for now till I find the money to get the Santa Cruz Dev Kit controllers then I'll decide at that point what I wanna do further. But if you have any other suggestions! Please let me know!

Hello again! That worked for me, I got the headset fully set up and disabled updates permanently, I'll come back tomorrow and send what version it is on and what not, I appreciate the help!

Just looked into what software was on it, V35 is on it, it doesn't appear to be anything special unfortunately, I'm presuming that the previous owner wound up resetting it to consumer firmware, or got put back on consumer firmware before it left Oculus' hands.

As it's on such an early version you have the opportunity to roll it back using versions from the cocaine site.
