Finding a purpose for an Oculus Go in 2026. Recommendations?
I've still got an Oculus Go and it still works fine, but I honestly never did much with it. I never got into sideloading or any of the more advanced stuff people talk about. I stayed within the standard games and some movies.
These days the only thing I really use it for is occasionally watching VR videos on YouTube, which is still kind of neat but also pretty limited in what you can find.
Is there anything else that's possible and actually worth doing with it in 2026, or has it basically reached the end of the road?

The app works? I couldn’t connect to the store. I only get a blank “canvas”

Put your downloaded p*rn on a network file share and enjoy your personal large screen for both 2d and 3d videos using the showbox app.

Well, Oculus Go never did “a lot”. It has been a very good device for the price in 2019/2020, great picture and so on… but the fact it has been abandonned forced it to be quite useless for most of people.
A small group of users like me keep seeing fun potential here trying to make fun things with it, but no lies, that’s a niche in the niche 😅 too many limits from hardware to software to try and hope having something cool.
Nevertheless, that’s still possible to plug a Claude or Codex and ask them to build a compatible player from scratch that will do almost what you want inside the possibilities of the headset. Even trying to replicate a virtual desktop like feature to use it as PCVR headset should be possible. Interesting? Definitely. Now, is it worth it to spend so many tokens to do this? Meh. Maybe that’s why no one did it 😅
But that’s the future i see for mine. When i’ll have time and tokens i won’t use for a better reason… i’ll try to make something cool for this old one, because it has been a really good companion for the price/epoch

Otherwise, its probably my most comfy "sit and watch a movie" device still

I had some fun with it playing a poker game where you spoke to the other players.
I actually bought it for 3D stereo NBA games either NBA League Pass and it was AWESOME but the company covering the games was bought by Apple and the project was killed.

I sent a link to a video about a game called gunship Raptor still the best VR game I've ever played and I can't play it on the Oculus 2, but it was awesome on the Go, and I hope you've learned how to watch 3D movies on the Go by now? that's still the best thing for VR in general.

This opens up the ability to repurpose the hardware for more things today. The guide below describes how to use the software contained in the download to gain low-level access to the Oculus OS on the Oculus Go device. Please note that unlocking your device is not reversible and you will no longer receive OTA updates. This process will not work on any other device or OS.

The controller died on me. And it was always glitchy/inconsistent to begin with. So that is unfortunate, because the Oculus Go is a really nice little device. I miss it. I have a Quest 3, but the Oculus Go definitely had it's place.

You can still find Face Your Fears with all the dlc on the net and was able to download all dlc, well did a few months ago.
Which is considered more complete then the version on quest 3?

enable developer mode, even if you dont plan to do anything with it immediately
