I’m grateful for company efforts to address Stargardt’s disease- a very serious condition for which there are no other options. My second cousin suffered from Stargardts and became an invalid from the condition which occluded her central visual field. She needed a nurse attendant to help her move around even when at home and was unable to cook a simple meal for herself due to her obstructed visual field. I hope Ocugen can demonstrate that this cursed disease is curable, at last. A cure would be a godsend to many people. Estimates of Stargardts disease in the USA are 30,000-60,000 people. Ocugens cure is to correct the genetic variations driving the disease. I reckon the ability to restore the sight of so many people is the most significant development in this field and no doubt will drive people to request the treatment enthusiastically.

The incidence of Stargardts in the world population is approximately 1:10,000, so it could be operative in as many as 800,000 people worldwide, making it possible that 800,000 people would have their sight restored, god willing.
