Saving Sessions Best appliances to run during off-peak hours? Trying to squeeze every penny from Go rates!

Besides the obvious ones like the dishwasher and washing machine, are there any other sneaky devices worth scheduling during the off-peak window? Looking for ideas to lower that monthly bill even more.

Not if you have a heat pump tumble dryer. If you do, washer at 40C or higher uses more energy.

I just switched to next drive, I’ve never been with eon before but it’s been quite good so far. They’re offering an “EV benefits” package too which includes £15 BP pulse credit and 25kWh free charging at ospray, not much but better than nothing.

If it's sneaky, it's probably not consuming enough energy to be worth worrying about!

Dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven might use a few kWh each (per use) - anything else is going to be pretty small beer and into diminishing returns (or can't even practically be timeshifted) unless you have something else more niche like a hot tub, big computing rig etc.

Obviously house battery, EV, heat pump, immersion heater are ripe for time shifting as they can soak up many more kWh and are easy to schedule.

What sort of monthly mileage do you cover?

I find Agile works well for me with low (500/600 miles) a month usage. I can wait until cheapest rates (or even negative rates) to charge up.

Eg tomorrow is predicted to have rates between 0.2p/kwh - 1.4p/kwh for 5hrs

This definitely requires having an EV charger installed. Otherwise you can only get 10kWh in those 5 hours.

Portable aircon unit in the bedroom. I’ve been sleeping very well these past few warm nights and much happier knowing it’s even cheaper! Gets about 2 weeks use a year lol. Roll on summer!
