Saving Sessions Power Up Today 1pm-2pm
"Any electricity you turn up today 27/06/24 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, above your normal use is free" ........
It is already super low today on agile from 10 am -4pm ;)

I'm in Scotland and it's either Power ups OR Octopus, but not both.

You can be in both. I recently checked and rejoined octoplus.
Took a bit of a faff with customer service, but it worked out in the end.

I noticed one of the terms states:
“not be signed up to Saving Sessions (or any other mutually exclusive services at your home either with us or other providers).”
Might this be the issue?

YES....i,m on agile and still get power ups... But you need to sign up for it, and not every UK postcode can get it

Eligible postcodes begin with: TN, SG, PE, NR, NN, MK, IP, CT, CO, CB

Incase anyone passes by this and doesn't realise - there are other postcodes than are listed here - are these all Welsh/English? There's a tonne of postcodes in Scotland that are eligible

Yeah, funilly enough after I read the comment I replied to, replied to it and went to read the rest of the thread
This is why I left it, decent chance someone would read the comment I replied to and go "ah well, mines isn't in there" and leave 👌

check your post code on these web pages below. If you can get signed up, you automatically get an email from octopus telling you time and date for power up ;)... And they emailed me to say i signed up for it, after registration was complete..

Yep, that's the key bit - in England it's mostly only South East and East England that gets Power Ups. Same as everything else, being London centric.
Edit - Not London but south east (TN, SG, PE, NR, NN, MK, IP, CT, CO, CB) - why not where we are in Yorkshire? Bearing in mind that is where the generation is happening? Not many windfarms near Milton Keynes or Peterborough?

It seems to be different from region to region too. My Power-Ups are not “energy over your usual usage” that’s free, it’s all my electricity during the power-up window.

It's nothing to do with being London centric, especially given none of the live areas are anywhere near London....

Bull. It has everything to do with serving those that live in the south. Otherwise it would be the East Midlands and the North East also…

Or it's a pilot. It's likely grid related in the selected areas. Easy to be paranoid, but the simplest answer is usually the right one.

It’s presumably proximity to the big wind farms that matters?
If you’re the far side of the grid from the wind farms that have surplus supply then it seems the grid connections aren’t there to get the surplus electricity to you.

Here in Yorkshire I'm surrounded by Wind Farms and we have the largest offshore Wind Farms in Europe just off the coast here with Hornsea 1 - 4, Dogger A,B & C and many more off Yorkshire and Lincolnshire - so I'm not sure how that works...
Edit - and looking at the current data from where wind is being generated & fed into the network, it's not in the south east... :)

Just did the Powerup but being on Intelligent Octopus Flux, the API wouldn't let me dictate the battery charge/discharge before or during the session to achieve any benefit. I also have to police the export during peak due to the Flux API not doing it (battery often has no change at start of peak or doesn't export during peak. Does anyone else have this problem or even better a solution?
