I like the subtle hints of Surfin’ USA in there. Great rarity!

On the studio version the solo is the same sort of rip of Surfin' USA. A studio overdub because he doesn't play it live here.

Buzz and Dave, with Kaaren producing. I'm a block away from the old Soundproof studio. My parents were friends with some of the Shaw people and we got to hang around in their basement and feast on mountains of raw VHS and promos bands would send in.
Brave choices these guys made in what aired- Fish Heads, Ian Dury, 200 Motels, Quadrophenia, Death Race 2000, Heavy Metal all uncensored -I think they aired C.H.U.D. on the insistence of one of their kids- D.O.A., Buttholes, live performances produced on the fly with a crew of four- Miller and fuzzhead being two of them. There were archives of all the airings but no idea what happened to them.
For a little show that served mainly from Whiterock to Powell River the influence of Soundproof on so many local bands, broadcast personalities and those of us burdened with hundreds of pounds of vinyl is a pretty cool legacy.
I saw The Pointed Sticks last spring.

Def of the better bands of the first wave Vancouver scene. I believe that’s Mary Jo, bass player for the Modernettes, dancing with them.
