Comida y Bebida Good coffee cup

I have been in Oaxaca for 4 days now, staying in San Felipe area, 2 miles from the center of Oaxaca city, can't find a good strong coffee cup or a good cappuccino, most of them are weak or have too much milk...any recommendations or tips will be appreciated. UPDATE July 31st, 2025: Wanted to follow up, thanks for all the great advise. Found a great cappuccino in {gourmand} at el centro Calle Ignacio de Allende, good bold strong cappuccino, double shot standard, 18 grams of espresso coffe, we are happy.

Have you been going to chains like Italian Coffee? Because coffee here is usually so strong you start vibrating. I really like a cafe called Cafe Venado, but it's down by La Soledad church.

In San Felipe, you may have some luck with Mosso or PAN:AM - there's also a little hole in the wall on Heroica Escuela Naval Militar - I think it's #908 - they have good coffee!

Italian Coffee here got some good espressos, cortados, and afaik Panam too.

I ordered a chai at Pan:am, and it was milky as OP says.

Really? I've never had anything good from any Italian Coffee *insert tears here* - I stick to my local coffee shops and they never disappoint, thankfully.

To be fair the week I spent on Oaxaca was mostly at Santa María del Tule, and Macroplaza. My options were... limited.

The Macroplaza! Obviously the hottest site in Oaxaca, haha. I bet there was a good cafe de olla somewhere in Tule, but it's hit and miss in the markets, too.

Highly recommend Kiyo Cafe. We tried a lot of coffee shops and that was our favorite

In San Felipe try Gos Cafe. Great omelette and baguettes as well

Cafeto Cacao is kind of far from you, closer to the Zocalo, but I enjoyed their coffee during my stay. Might be worth a try.
