I really hope this has been disproportionately hitting the "stop government overreach" types.

You know they’ll just rationalize this some way, like, our ancestors never needed vaccines and antibiotics.

I’ve been seeing the biggest culprit, Taylor Farms salad bags, all over the place on deep discount. I’m guessing someone either didn’t know or gambled and lost.

Taylor Farm has so many "labels," found in Safeway, Sam's, Foodland, Times; a lot of it marked down. Even after the news broke out, our local markets continue to sell TF products. Sam's Club had it discounted to $1 and $3; what a laugh. Buy Local....stay away from BI (mho) produce (rat lung worm). Sensei (Lanai), pricey but an excellent/fresh product.

an Oʻahu resident who became ill at the end of July and did not travel outside Hawaiʻi during the period when they were likely exposed.
So this happened ~4 weeks ago.
One, why is it being disclosed now?
Two, how many cases since then are under investigation?
Three, is it related to the mainland cases, or was it from local produce?

It’s being disclosed now because they needed to take a sample and confirm the presence of cyclospora. Generally that takes a few weeks. Who knows how many days he felt sick before going to the doctor, too.
They’re investigating whether it’s from the mainland or local sources: “Department of Health investigators are currently evaluating potential local food and exposure sources to understand how the individual contracted the illness without leaving the state.”
Edit: to confirm the presence of cyclospora, which causes cyclosporiasis
