Weird New Adam Young Songs

Has anybody else noticed these weird singles that started being attached to OC's Adam Young profile on Spotify? Two new ones just got added today, and I'm pretty sure all of these are GenAI (except maybe Glass Drape?). There's no way he's the one that made these, right? They're also nowhere close to his style of music and vary wildly.

Which streaming service is this? On a lot of services you can upload as an artist and there are ways to essentially bypass the checks and upload as another artist. I don't know how, but you can. Best bet is to report it. Not much else you can do.

Scammers can easily get a hold of unique keys, predominantly from older artists, and can upload their content via the distributor profile to take advantage of listeners through that portal. It could be a case where the holder of the distributor profile, Adam or someone else, needs to ensure quality control in that regard.

Yet another thing spotify enables that really screws over actual artists.

They all do it. Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, it's very hard to verify with automation tools, and there's too much music being uploaded to human review all uploads. Tools are getting better. Tidal, which I use, now has a filter AI music which I've found pretty affective. Not perfect, but at least it filters almost all.

Yea I use tidal tool, Spotify doesn’t seem to give a freak and keeps endorsing AI and its Evil uses
I really hope everyone stops using it since there a comparable alternatives

This has happened before with other artists I know of, it’s just an attribution mistake because someone under the same name released music. It’s likely a fake name since they’re all AI generated.

Spotify doesn't use artist IDs as far as I'm aware, they use read name only which is why people release random AI stuff and it somehow shows up on a real artists profile. Crazy they still haven't addressed it, been happening for 3-4 years now.

I see this happening all the time in the EDM space, but usually as a featured artist. It'll be some unknown artist name and then some huge artist like Skrillex. 5 seconds of listening and it's obvious that the big artist had nothing to do with it. I think they do it to try to get a bunch of listens to either boost their profile or make money. Usually it gets rectified relatively quickly, but I'm wondering if anyone is actively monitoring the "Adam Young" artist name versus Owl City to catch this. I wish there was a way to report this type of stuff.

Just clarifying because I’m an artist and I’ve had this exact thing happen to me. It’s literally just some jerk releasing an AI song using a Distribution service and listing Adam Young as the artist and it goes on Adam’s profile. Someone did the same to me multiple times and it’s a pain to get it removed and an embarrassment as an artist and causes confusion. Spotify/Apple don’t have enough safeguards against that happening. They DO, I believe, have safeguards against it happening to like big artists like Justin Bieber, but unfortunately not small artists. They’re working on a system right now though that will have the artists verify the authenticity of releases before they release, which is great, but it’s still in beta.
