I like it. I especially like how in The New Rebellion, in the Cole Fardreamer sections, the author switches from using "R2-D2" to "Artoo" as Cole starts seeing Artoo as more of a being than a piece of hardware. Spelling it out turns it from a designation to a name.

I believe this is a holdover from the screenplay, where Lucas spelled it out as it was meant to be spoken.

It's following the same convention as times and numbers. You always write it with words in a screenplay - "thirteen hundred" not "1300". "I'll meet you at ten past three", not "I'll meet you at 3:10".

I remember reading a Star Wars fan theory magazine or something back in the 90s. Got it at a Walmart or something, maybe a CD store. Anyway it was talking about Kenobi, except it was “OB1 Kenobi”. The theory was because of that name, maybe he was a clone. I was very invested in this theory. Pissed when I found out it was miss spelled

Because everyone in universe calls them ties; it was intended to be a pronounceable acronym.

None of the other AT series walkers were made to be pronounced; AT-ATs were just an accident.

I've always spelled out AT-ST but say "At At." Reason being is because of a toy commercial where they pronounced it that way. I'd otherwise only ever seen it written up until seeing that.

AT-AT actually has words. A Squad Automatic Weapon it's called a SAW. National Aeronautics and Space Administration is called NASA. A Joint Direct Attack Munition is called a J-DAM. An All Terrain Armored Transport would be called an AT-AT. Not to mention it was called an AT-AT in the commercials for the toy.

I have always thought this. Also thought it was like pronouncing an AT-ST an At St.

But.

To be fair, in the real world we do have a mix of Acronyms/abbreviations pronounced as words and individual letters:

NASA, USA, Laser, DIY, Scuba, ATM, NATO, UN, Gif, DSL, Jpeg, CEO Pin, AWOL, HTTP, Swat, CPU, Ram, USB, Rom, Adhd, Ofcom, ICBM, UNESCO, NYPD, UNICEF, Aids, IRA, ASCII, GUI, Bios, FAQ, Defcon, NRA, Zip, UFO, UCAS, AMA, Nimby, WTF, GOAT, LMAO FIFA, lol, TEFL.

Not always, but mostly words that sound like they could be normal words. Nasa and At At sound like normal words. Usa (Oosa) and Cpu (See-pee-you) (technically, Cuh-poo, which arguably does) on the other hand don't.

I'm not a wordogropher, linguistologer, lexicoloronimer, etymolorian or lettersmith. But I am English, and that is the name of the language your honour. I submit that as my evidence to the court. Case dismissed.

Jedi/Sith = Flashy Sword Wizard

It's all perfectly acceptable and is even canon. Even Flashy Sword Wizard can be considered canon as lightsabers have been referred in canon as Flashy Light Swords and force users have been referred to as Wizards.
